Chapter 1-

I sat by the steps and waited wher was I to go next i looked around me nuthin but crackheads and drug dealers i lept from the steps with my almost empty back-pack I dug inside my pocket hoping to find some spare change i pulloed out the only small picture of my mom who left me when i was three I've been living for 10 years know and been tryin to survive on the streets i.ve been caught by the cops multiple times and have gotten away cleanly living in Harlem.New York is not easy for a kid my age.Not knowing where your next meal goin to come from and even is tommorow's promised I came back to life when I bumped into lil man he is kinda In my situation but he older than me by 3 years.

"Tori what the heck you doin' romin the streets?"

I looked at him with curious green eyes he thinks just because I'm not officially black that I can't take care of myself yes i'm Mixed.

"Whatever Lil Man ger outta my way i got's places to go!"

"Whatcha meen you don't gots no house!"

"Shut up...for I call my daddy!"

"His behind in jail and who knows where your momma is!"

I walked passed him and pulled out a couple of bucks i had to be wise with my money plus where I shopped becuase some of the clerks always asked me were my parents where. I looked behind me Lil Man had strolled off and was know pickin on someone else I walked into piggy's corner store a got me some chips and a nice cold soda I paid in walked out. I looked to my left and noticed two cop cars about three blocks away it was best I took Right I headed down Main street and checked the buildings for people I mostly spent the night at a crakheads house with there 10 kids sleepin in one of they broke down beds. I stopped at this abandoned shack and sat down i noticed the cop cars were coming my way I had to act naturual then one stopped in front of me.

Chapter 2-

"Little gurl where is your momma?"

"She inside da market"

"And why are you out here alone?"

"I'm not I'm waitin' on my big brother he supose' to be comin from my grandma house"

I looked around for Lil Man he was strollin across the street headin towards Kings Road.

"See der go my brutha right there!"

The Officer looked over at lil man then back at me.

"Sweetie yall look nuthin alike"

"We gots diffrent momma's"

"So im guessin you got a white momma and he got a black momma?

"Yes sir"

"Well get on ova der with ya brutha I don't wanna see you by yourself again...you understand!"

"Yes sir!"

the cop car drove off slowly I ran towards lil man once the cop car was outta sight. Then i went the other way I paced back n forth i had no idea on where i was headed next I decided to go to Jhon-Jhon's House he was really good friends with my daddy ubtil he went to jail i rann along the sidewalk kepping a eye out for any other cop cars. Finally I was infront of a run-down red house that had about six crackheads and three drug dealers on the front steps i walked passed them getting a few stares and glances once I was inside the house I looked for Jhon-Jhon he was sittin' on a worn down coach with atleast four girls surroundin him he saw me and slowly got to his feet.

"Hey Lil Mama wassup with you?"

"I need a place to stay for the night can i stay here please?

"sure honey how you been"

"i've been ight"

"Well lil shawty my girl Coco goin sho you ya new room fa da night"

I followed this very dark prostitute up some ragged stairs and she lead me in this very empty room the only thing that took up space was a bare bed that had one pillow and a small blanket.

"Here ya go Sweetie"

"Thank-You"

She left out the room closin the door behind her i dropped my back-pack on the floor and sat on the balcony i cold here all the sounds and music playin i knew that Jhon-Jhon was goin to have a crab broil. I went back in my room in changed into my night clohthes which was my worn down red T and my blue faded shorts Tonight i would be able to go to sleep in a bed.

Chapter 3-

I woke up and put back own yesterdays clothes i walked downstairs and saw Jhon-Jhon and a girl asleep on the sofa i left and headed down Burboun Street i noticed Miesha and Zy'asia sittin on they front porch drinking I walked towards them they both got six kids and I knew each and last one of them i looked them up and down then walked off i started searching for little man and had not noticed the police car that was on the opposite corner i kept walking to it pulled in front of me i stopped dead in my tracks this time it was a girl and she looked tired I glanced at the park and faced her.

"Sweetie...What you doin' out here alone?"

"I...I was goin to the market for my momma"

she looked me up in down i had to think of something good to say or she wouldn't believe me.

"Is that so!"

"Yes Mam!"

"Well come and get in I'll give you a ride"

"No Thank-You walking suits me well"

"Now darling these streets ain't good for a young girl to be out on"

I wanted to run i could feel the curiosity in her voice i didn't want to take the ride because what if she offerd to take me home wich i have no idea where it is.

"Honey...How old are you?"

"10"

"AN YOUR MOTHER LET YOU HANG AROUN' THESE STREETS"

"No mam just to go to the store and only when the sun is out"

"Well i don't care if you were the last person on earth a 10-year-old girl don't need to be on the streets by herself...Now you get in this car so I can take you home"

What was i to say or do i looked her in the eyes and she looked upset at what my "mother" made me do I walked to the other side I would just go back to Jhon-Jhon's house and tell her my momma was at work if she wanted to talk to her.

"Wher is your house?"

"The worn down Red one"

She made a U-turn and slowly drove up to the house she exsamined it for awhile as I got out she asked to speak with my mother i gave her the lame excuse.

"She already done left for work...She had left me a grocery list"

"Is that so"

The Officer no longer looked convinced she stepped out of her Police car dressed in a blue uniform with a whole lotta badges I stepped back.

"Yes...Mam"

"Why don't you go on and get back in the car"

"My Momma told me not to go with anybody I didn't know!"

"But i'm a Officer"

"So!"

I turned around to walk back Into the house but she grabbed me by the arm I let out a heart stopping yell and she pushed me into the backseat I tried getting out I kicked and screamed I looked for anyone I saw Lil Man watching from a distance. I continued my rampage she told me that she was going to take me someplace wher they would take good care of me I knew just where that place was...Foster Care!
