The Hospital

As I lay lifeless in the hospital bed, I remember nothing of the night before. My mother and father, who are divorced, sit on the chairs on the right side of me, gripping each others hands. My mother is crying into my fathers chest. My brother, only 7 years old, sits on the floor in front of me, playing with his army figurines. I groan silently, making a gesture to say that I’m awake. My mother stands up automatically and rushes to my bed. I turn my head slightly up to her.
β€œMom, wh..where am I?” I ask, just to talk to her.
β€œYour in the hospital, baby,” Mom finishes. Her eyes are all puffy and red from crying.
β€œWhy..why am I here?” I question, with a strained voice.
β€œHoney, why don’t you get some rest. The doctors will take care of you, we’ll be sitting right here,” Dad tries to avoid the question.
β€œBut, I want to know,” I say back. I was always a stubborn child.
β€œBaby, please get some sleep. You need it,” Mom explains with a fake smile.
I nod my head, knowing that whatever happened is no accident. I fall asleep. I sleep for around 15 hours and wake up. It’s a bright, sunny morning outside. I can see the light leak from the curtains, shadowing my face. I feel a lot better and surprisingly have a lot of strange energy. I turn my head moderately to the right and find my parents not there. I start to sit up and a nurse comes in.
β€œHold on Miss. Johnson, you can’t go anywhere. Not yet, anyways,” The nurse explains. The nurse looks very, strangely familiar.
β€œWoah,” I say, aloud.
β€œIs everything alright, Sky?” She asks.
β€œMajor deja-vous. Wait, who is Sky?” I ask.
β€œYou, your Sky dear,” The Nurse explains.
β€œWell, I know it’s blue but,” Not finishing my sentence, the nurse turns to call a doctor Meadows.
The doctor walks in the room. He takes one look at me and puts a weird face on. He looks vaguely familiar, too.
β€œHello, sweetie. How are you? You feeling alright?” He asks me, like I’m stupid.
β€œUh, I don’t think so. I can’t seem to remember who I am. I mean, I remember my parents, and my brother, just not myself. I actually remember who you are and who you are,” I say, pointing to the nurse, then to Meadows.
The Doctor nods to me and I have this major flashback. I seem to be looking at myself, in a hospital bed, rolling to a room. I see blood on my face, my legs are spread apart on the sides of the bed. I see blood on my shoulder and a cut on my arm. I also see scratches on my face and neck and my shirt is torn in half. I’m topless as well. I then wake up to reality and gasp loudly.
β€œAre you okay, Sky?” The nurse says.
β€œYes, I, I’m fine thank you,” I lie.
The nurse and doctor keep explaining all this medical stuff that I can’t understand. I try to touch my shoulder and realize that’s there is A LOT of pain. I then start to touch my neck and feel long bumps that are now scabs. I then reach up to my face and touch my nose, I then realize that my nose is broken, due to bandages and pain. I then begin to reach under the blanket and touch my legs. I do feel major bruising beginning to happen. I then touch my stomach and notice that it feels like I’ve been doing major exercise, but I don’t remember doing so. It then hits me. I remember who I am.
β€œDoctor Meadows!” I shout.
He rushes over to me, β€œWhat!? What is it?” He requests.
β€œI remember who I am!” I motion.
β€œThat’s great! Tell me who you are, what you look like, and so on,” He exclaims.
β€œOkay, um, lets see. My names Skylar Lauren Johnson, Sky for short. I’m 16 years old, in 10th grade. I have blond hair with black highlights, blue eyes and I’m 5’6” tall. I love to play soccer and I love to surf!” I say in one breath.
β€œOh, that’s great!” Meadows indicates.
β€œI remember all my family, friends, memories and..and,” I stop.
Doctor Meadows realizes why I have paused.
He looks down, puts his hand on my shoulder and says, β€œI’m so sorry.”
He looks at me and knows that I want some time to myself, to figure things out.
The reason for all this pain, the faint amnesia, the..everything is because of last night. The party that cursed my life, forever.
