she could kiss him. โ€œI promise.โ€ She tried to keep hold of her patience because she knew his demands stemmed from fear. Today was the first time heโ€™d be away all day, and he was going to be hours away.

This was her chance to show him she would be fine. She also wanted some time alone to think about what she was going to do with her life. While she loved living here, she had to do something with her time or sheโ€™d likely go insane.

โ€œIf I call, then you answer. And I want a text every hour.โ€

โ€œI promise,โ€ she said as she stepped back away from his truck. They were in the garage and he was about to set off. โ€œI will do all of those things. You donโ€™t need to worry. Now off you go.โ€

She waved her hands at him.

He wrapped his hand around the back of her neck and drew her towards him. Leaning down, he stared into her eyes. โ€œDid you just shoo me?โ€

Georgina managed to hold back a grin. โ€œMaybe. What you gonna do about it, Big Daddy?โ€

He put his mouth by her ear. โ€œWhen I get home, Iโ€™m going to strip you naked. Then Iโ€™m going to bend you over the back of the couch and spank your ass. After that, Iโ€™m going to fuck that tight ass while you hold your rabbit vibrator in your pussy. And then afterward, Iโ€™m going to sit on the sofa and cuddle you for at least an hour.โ€

Her big tough guy. The ultimate snuggle bunny.

โ€œHurry home,โ€ she told him.

He smacked her ass then climbed in the truck and left.

After doing the housework, which wasnโ€™t much, she looked around the cabin. She needed some fresh air. Much as she loved the cabin, she felt claustrophobic. It was a gorgeous spring day, and grabbing her laptop and phone, she headed outside. After group texting her brothers, she sent one to Ed.

Georgie: Still alive. Surviving without you. Just.

Ed: Is that sarcasm I hear?

Georgie: No idea what you mean, Big Daddy.

Ed: Eat your snack. Stay out of trouble and maybe tonight, First Mate Daddy will give Captain Georgie a bath.

Humming happily, she answered emails then went onto some career sites. She had no idea what she wanted to do, just that she wanted to help people. Feeling thirsty, she went inside to grab a drink. Coming out with an iced coffee, that she had no intention of telling Ed about since sheโ€™d already had two coffees earlier, she paused as she saw a dead rose.

Sitting right on her laptop.

A shiver ran down her spine despite the warm day. That was weird. How would a dead rose land on her laptop? She picked up her phone, ready to call Ed. Then realized heโ€™d be in court and out of contact. She knew she could call any of his deputies and theyโ€™d come racing out here.

But over a dead rose? That seemed a bit dramatic, right?

Still, she decided to gather up her stuff and head into the cabin. Where she could lock the doors and set the alarm.

After pacing the living room and peering out the windows about a hundred times, she started to calm down. Sheโ€™d grabbed her anti-anxiety toy, which sheโ€™d called Hugabug, and had it wrapped around her, holding her. She was cuddling Squawkers close too.

She was being silly. Sitting on the sofa, she laughed at herself. Thank goodness she hadnโ€™t tried to call Ed or one of his deputies. Over a dead flower.

Heโ€™d never leave her alone again.

The fact that she was freaking over a flower was worrying, though. Sheโ€™d never gone to therapy about what happened to her as a teenager. She placed her hand over her scar. Maybe that should be where she started. Maybe she wasnโ€™t yet ready for her second act when she hadnโ€™t closed up her first.

Darn it.

That was definitely what she should do. Being stalked and stabbed. Then shot. Then kidnapped. That was more than most people ever went through in a lifetime.

Okay. So she had a plan. Yawning, she settled down on the sofa. After burning all that energy freaking out, she figured maybe it was time for a nap.

Wouldnโ€™t Daddy be proud?

Daisy, Daisy, how do you do?

Daisy, Daisy, donโ€™t look so blue.

Daisy, Daisy, Iโ€™m watching you.

Saber laughed maniacally, leaning over her, his hand over her mouth as he ran the knife down across her breast. She tried to scream. To yell for her brothers.

No. Not Saber. Him. Her stalker.

A noise. Someone was coming. Then the knife was stabbing deep.

She screamed in agony.

She awoke with a scream. Sweat coated her skin. Her breath was coming in erratic pants.

Sick. She was going to be sick. She raced towards the bathroom, not even noticing that she dropped Hugabug and Squawkers on the floor. Kneeling over the toilet, she vomited again and again. When she sat back, she felt like there were hundreds of ants racing over her skin.

She hugged herself, trying to calm her breathing.

Out. She needed out. She needed to run, to clear her head.

Not even thinking about the fact that sheโ€™d promised Ed sheโ€™d message him if she left or that it was getting late, she quickly put on some workout clothes and shoes.

She left the house, barely managing to work the alarm with her shaking fingers.

Then she ran.

Why wasnโ€™t she answering her phone?

This felt too much like dรฉjร  vu for him. Heโ€™d just left court and tried to call her. She knew that he would check in regularly. He finished the call and then tried again. When that one went to voicemail as well, he decided to check the GPS tracker. She could just be in the bathroom or have gone outside without her phone. The tracker would tell him that she was safe at home.

But when he brought it up, he could see that she was at least two miles from home. He raced towards his truck, even as he used his phone to call
