me. Through unravelling my past, I have woven myself into my family tapestry. It is unique, rich with colour but its brightness is edged with dark places, the light and shade of my past and my future. I am no longer a loose thread, dangling alone. Now, I am bound and inextricably linked with other threads, other lives, joined in love.

My role in the tapestry is not yet finished. I am still weaving, alongside others, forming new patterns but, for the moment, at least, I have found my place.

I know where I belong.

Acknowledgements

It has long been my ambition to write a novel - there have been many failed and incomplete attempts along the way – and at long last, here it is. Thank you to anyone who has taken the trouble to read it. I do hope you enjoyed it! If so, you may enjoy reading my second book, Who to Trust.

Thank you particularly to my friends and family who have not only read The Girl in the Scrapbook but have said nice things and encouraged me to publish it.

A big thank you to my talented son, Rob, who designed the cover.

A special thank you to my sister Sara, daughter Alex and husband Mark who took their roles as proof-readers seriously and spotted my mistakes. If there are any I have failed to rectify, I hope you will forgive me.

About The Author

Carolyn Ruffles

I love reading books which tell a compelling story: books with mystery, romance, suspense and emotional depth; books which keep me reading late into the night/early morning; books with a satisfying ending. That is what I try to write. I’m fascinated by human interest stories – ordinary people embroiled in extraordinary dramas and learning about themselves in the process.

When I’m not reading or writing, I love walking my two rescue dogs, spending time with family and friends, playing badminton and looking after my two beautiful grandsons.

If you enjoyed reading The Girl in the Scrapbook, I would be very grateful if you could spare the time to post a review. This will help other readers to find it.

Who to Trust

Who To Trust is a compelling, romantic thriller.

A baby is stolen from a hospital; a young child is abducted from a holiday resort in Spain; twenty-three years later, someone is following romantic novelist, Anna Blake.

As Anna tries to discover her stalker’s identity, she becomes embroiled in the mystery of a missing child. But the search for answers only brings more fear. Anna becomes suspicious of the men in her life: Damien Davies, who has a grudge against her; old flame, Ewan Jacobs, who wishes to resume their relationship; enigmatic Josh Fielding, who has recently moved into the village.

As events escalate and the search becomes a matter of life and death, Anna even doubts the people who are closest to her. Everyone is hiding something. Who is telling the truth?

How does she know Who To Trust?
