from her. He landed with a thud on the far end of the clearing and precariously close to the edge of the cliff. He cursed and worked to control his anger to prevent responding in kind. He ignored the rising fear within his being. His worst fear that her abilities would surface before she learned emotional control was happening before his eyes. He stood and took calming breathes. "Get up, Kaily." He said in a quieter, less harsh tone. His temper was not well contained. Not even Shimani tested his control the way that she did.

"I'm tired." Kaily said as she stood.

"We just began." Moto moved towards her again.

She pushed her hands again towards him. "I SAID I'M TIRED!"

Moto felt himself go flying again with greater force than the first time. He grabbed for the nearest tree with his own power to keep himself from going over the edge. He erected a shield to absorb her energy and kept it in place in case she attempted to throw him a third time. He had no idea how she gathered that much energy. He still kept her talisman hidden. The pouch Sari placed it in and given to him kept its energy subdued so much so he found it difficult to there was a talisman within it. He didn't know how Sari created the pouch to do that either. He was coming to terms with the number of things that he didn't know about them. He would eventually take both Shimani and Sari to task for it.

"ENOUGH!" Moto shouted at her as he rushed towards her.

Kaily flung her hands up again.

He felt the energy hit him, but he was prepared. He focused his thoughts and drained the energy from her with enough force to drive her to her knees. He knelt beside her and took her hands in his. "I said enough." He managed to refrain from yelling at her only through iron clad control.

"I'm tired, Moto." Kaily said raising defeated eyes towards him.

Moto closed his eyes. "I know." He sat on the ground and pulled a reluctant Kaily on to his lap. "Obviously, this," he waved his hand to encompass the clearing by the pools they used for training, "is not working." He forced her to lay her head on his shoulder and soothingly rubbed her back. He sighed. "I'm out of ideas." He relaxed when he felt her resistance fade.

"I'm tired, Moto." She repeated. "I don't understand what's happening to me and I don't like the way it's making me feel." She turned tear filled eyes to him.

"What's happening to you is nothing to fear, Kaily."

She looked away. "I didn't say I was afraid."

He brought her gaze back to his. He wiped the corner of her eyes. "I feel it emanating from you, little one. You are afraid of what you are becoming and that is part of the problem. Your fear is making you fight it and that is hindering your ability to control it."

She shook her head in denial. "It feels like it is consuming me, Moto. I was not meant to have abilities or power or whatever else you want to call it. Can't you take it away?"

His gaze reflected the pain in her plea. He shook his head. "No, little one, I cannot. I can help you if you let me, but you have to trust me as you once did."

"I trust you." She said.

"No, you don't. You stopped trusting me," he shook his head, "actually I don't know when, but the blind trust you once gave me when I rescued from the Agenors is gone."

She laid her head on his chest and stared out over the pools without comment.

Moto gave her peace and rocked her back and forth to comfort her as he thought about what to do. He didn't worry about Kaily hearing his thoughts. She didn't reach for his mind and he couldn't connect with her enough to communicate telepathically. It was as if something was blocking their connection, but he could not discern the source. He couldn't determine if it was just his imagination either. He needed to find a way to reach her and gain her trust.

Now that her powers surfaced, he had no choice but to take her back to the training room. It was too dangerous to train her in the open where they were, and he didn't dare go anywhere near the villages. If anyone spotted them, it would be bad for both of them and for Sari. How Sari was keeping the Queen appeased he didn't know. He didn't give it too much thought either. He was grateful that Sari and Shimani were there to handle whatever was happening in the villages. They weren't forthcoming with information and they were not his primary concern. Kaily was. She pulled away from him. He intended to consummate the bonding between them when her womanly cycle ended, but she didn't want him touching her intimately and he would not force his will on her, at least not when it came to pleasuring her. She had to come to him willingly as a true bonded mate would. Something changed in that training room, he just didn't know what.

He glanced unwillingly up at the planet that loomed over their heads. He often caught her looking at it when she thought he wasn't looking. It disturbed him. It was beginning to fade, and he could not be more pleased with that. He estimated within a week or so the cursed world would no longer be visible in their sky. Unfortunately, he felt its pull and an emotion almost like sorrow as it faded. Never in all his years of life, had he ever felt anything except hatred towards that cursed world. Nothing made sense to him anymore. She had done more than turn his world upside down. He rested his chin on the top of her head. "If only you were Kahoali." He said aloud. It was a statement more to himself
