She felt her fear and temper rising to the surface.

His gaze left hers and drifted to the table and the contents on it.

She pushed to her feet and made her way over to the table. A lump formed in her throat as she saw the contents on the table. There on the table top was a large pillow of sorts, a pot with a ladle in it, and what looked like a leather strap. She knew from her time with the Kahoali it wasn't real leather, but plant based as was all things they utilized. She lifted angry eyes to meet his. "What do you intend to do with those?" She asked, pointing.

He stood and walked to the table to stand beside her. "You said you wanted to be treated like a Kahoali."

"I don't care what I said," she replied. "What do you intend to do with those?" She asked again from between clenched teeth.

He glanced at the table and back to her. "I think you know."

She turned around and looked at the entrance. She clinched her fists at her side and turned back to him. "Why?"

"You know why, Kaily." Moto took a step towards her.

She stepped back, one step only. She refused to be afraid of him. "Pretend I don't." She said. "Because while I have an idea what prompted," she pointed to the table, "that. I don't understand. Why you would want to do," she took a deep breath, "that to ME?" She attempted to take calming breaths. She didn't intend to yell at him.

He took a few deep breaths as well. "Because," he said, "you used your abilities in anger and threw me."

"IT was an ACCIDENT!" Her fingernails bit into her palms. She began to shake with anger. She could feel her control over her temper slipping, not that she had a great amount of control over her emotions in the first place. The previous day's events displayed that.

"The first time, yes," he said, nodding, "but, not the second or third time. If I hadn't used my own abilities you would have flung me off the cliff, BECAUSE YOU LOST CONTROL." He closed his eyes and took several more deep breaths.

She shook her head and backed away. "NO! I'm not going to submit to that." She pointed an angry finger at the table. "NO!" She glared at him for good measure, then turned and ran to the shower room.

"GET BACK OUT HERE!"

"NO!" She left the shower room and grabbed a fresh set of clothes off the shelves Moto stashed everything on. "NEVER!"

He didn't respond.

She dressed. Her heart beat wildly in her chest. She ran her fingers through her auburn hair and splashed water on her face. She stood just inside the entrance and listened, nothing. There was no sound at all. She wondered if he left the cave. She could only hope, she thought, as she closed her eyes.

She half expected him to charge into the shower room and bring her out kicking and screaming, which was the only way he was ever going to get her to, she closed her eyes and shut her mind to what he wanted to do to her. How could he? Hadn't she been through enough? She took a deep breath. She needed to remain in control, if she could call it that. He had been right about one thing; she had almost flung him off the cliff. She didn't intend to lash out at him. She just had been so angry at him that she reacted without thought of the consequences of her actions. She stepped out of the shower room looking around the corner towards the table. He wasn't there.

"Finished?" Moto asked in a deceptively quiet voice.

Kaily squealed and spun around. He leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. She could tell from the harsh set of his mouth he was extremely angry. It probably was a good thing she couldn't reach his mind. She imagined he fumed inside. The rest of his facial features were the same familiar stone mask she came to expect from him during her time in the village, with the exception of the hard-set edge of his jaw and mouth.

She crossed her arms and held his harsh glare. She refrained from answering. He returned her stare and remained where he was. She forced herself to stand her ground as well. It was difficult not to wither under his harsh scrutiny. She refused to give ground; she would not give him this. He would never lay a hand on her in that way, never.

He pushed off the wall with a curse and turned his glare to the entrance.

She turned around as Shimani and Sari stepped into the cave. Shimani and Sari looked from her to Moto and then glanced at each other. Kaily pushed past them and ran out of the cave before they could say anything. She heard Sari question Moto about what was going on there, but she didn't stick around for his reply. She ran haphazardly down the narrow path to the pools. She stomped around the clearing muttering and cursing Moto's stupidity. Her anger kept building and she couldn't get a handle on it. She felt the anger building, and something else. She stopped in the middle of the clearing and screamed. She felt heat building in her hand. She held her hand up without thought and flung it forward. She stared at the tree that just burst into flames.

"Feel better?" Sari asked from behind her.

Kaily glared at her over her shoulder. "No." She looked back at the fire.

Sari touched Kaily's back as she passed her. She felt the energy drain from her at the touch and with it her anger. She watched as Sari stepped forward and held her hands up and built something almost invisible to the eye and threw it at the tree. A faint shimmer surrounded the tree and the fire was snuffed out in a blink of an eye. Sari turned back
