βYouβre such a stupid man. Honorable but stupid. She is worth so much more than to be just your little girlfriend,β he speaks quickly.
βYou donβt know what the fuck she is worth. I do. I know she is mine and if you want her you are going to go through all of us.β
βSo be it.β
Something hard hits me on the back of the head and the last thing I hear before I fade to black is the back door slam and someone whistling.
When I wake back up a good twenty minutes has already passed, I donβt know if anyone has gone to the clubhouse and tried to start some shit but I know that I need to warn my brothers.
I press a hand to the back of my head, there is a big knot at the base of my skull. Iβm going to have one bad fucking headache.
I activate the hands-free while I stretch out my neck and shake the dizziness from my head.
βDjinn.β Brendan is the one who answers the phone.
βBrendan, is everything okay? Anyone try and stop by?β
βNo, what is going on. I called the office for you almost an hour ago and they said you were gone already.β
βThey are in on it. Weβre fucking screwed.β I start up my car and slowly make my way out of the parking lot. I donβt know if I have a concussion or anything like that but the last thing I need to be doing right now is driving. I donβt have a choice, I need to get home and bunker down.
βWait, who?β
βI donβt know how many in this location but I know Lynch is in on it.β
βLynch as in the Assistant Deputy Director?β
βYup, the bastard knew who Emerson was before I even had a chance to tell him. He wanted to know where Dela was.β
βThis is craziness, there really is nowhere that we can go.β
βThat isnβt the worst part.β Iβm the president of this club, and the oldest brother. Itβs my fucking job to make sure that everyone is safe and looked after, Iβm about to admit to him that I put the life of Dela over everyone else. Itβs not that I want them to be in danger but there is no way that I was just going to let them force us to give her back to them. Not after I know everything that has happened, everything that she has told me. βThe fuck made it seem like he was going to send people after all of us, after Preston.β
βFucking hell.β Brendan lets out a deep breath before he continues, βWell, you donβt need to worry about us, brother. You know we can handle ourselves. Preston though needs to know that he may have some snakes at his back.β
βYeah, Iβll reach out and see if I can get a message to him some way.β There were only a few people that knew were my brother was, unfortunately I wasnβt one of them.
βWe need to lockdown. No one in, no one out until we can get Dela somewhere safe.β
βYou think she is going to go along with running away?β Brendan speaks softly, he must be in mixed company.
βAt this point with only the few of us to protect her, she really doesnβt have much of a choice.β I pull off onto the road confident now that Iβm not impaired enough that I canβt drive. βIβll be there shortly, get everyone up to speed.β
βYou got it.β Brendan hangs up the phone, and I let my foot press heavy on the gas.

All of the Boys of Djinn are in the clubhouse minus Bishop and Preston who are away on missions. As much as I donβt like keeping everyone cooped up in the clubhouse, our lives were threatened. There could actually be someone out there that is willing to do harm to us. I canβt have them just riding around, not now.
βDo you think Wire and his boys would be able to come up here and help us out?β Spark asked.
βI donβt think so, shit is pretty fucking tense with them right now. In fact, I donβt think we can count on anyone down there right now.β Usually I would reach out to Wire in a case like this but right now their entire club is upside down. I donβt even know if the man is still the president. βWe have to handle this ourselves.β
βIs there anyone that we can call for backup, maybe even help getting some information?β
βNo, I canβt tell you who to trust. I donβt know who has a connection with Emerson or the Children of Gaia. If the Assistant Deputy Director is part of it then I would think that some of the others would be part of it too. I canβt take that chance.β I sit down on the stool, trying to figure out the next step.
βSo we just sit here with our thumbs up our asses?β Cody asks from next to me.
βYeah, that is exactly what we are going to do. We are going to sit here and wait.β I look at Dela who is sitting on the couch. Her sad eyes just looking into the flames not paying the conversation we are having any mind. βThey want her. That is their objective. If we canβt get any help from the outside than we have to make it hard as hell for them. They are going to have to come to us in order to get her.β
βIf we have to burn the entire fucking forest down to keep her safe than that is what we will do. She is our top priority right now, nothing else matters,β I bark out.
βAre you sure you want to do that, brother. This isnβt going in
