he groaned into her hair.

“No time for an engraved invitation, Jack,” she told him. “Now let me feel you.”

She heard him undo his belt and zipper with his free hand moments before his length was dragging along her cleft. Holding onto the tree for support, she bent at the waist, presenting herself for him.

Booker wove an arm around her waist, palming her right breast under her shirt, making her gasp.

“Jesus, the things I’d do to you if I could,” he murmured against the shell of her ear. “Be back here all night worshippin’ you.”

“Jack,” she moaned, pushing against him, pleading.

As soon as he breeched her entrance, Caitlin’s pulse skyrocketed. Her nails gouged the tree bark as she braced for more.

His thrusts were shallow, opening her up gently despite how needy they both were.

With his chest against her back, he held her as close as possible as he moved.

“Remember that mornin’ I woke you up with my head between your thighs,” he said, breath hot against her neck. “Never tasted anything better in my life. And the sounds you made, movin’ against my tongue, half asleep ‘n’ already about to come…”

Caitlin choked on a moan as he bottomed out. Memories flooded her mind, crashing against the delicious inferno wracking her body.

She should’ve known Booker would be a dirty talker when given the chance.

Sensing what his words were doing to her, he dipped his hand low, stroking through her folds as he thrust.

“Wish I could taste you now,” he growled, withdrawing and pushing into her again. “Have you drippin’ down my chin.”

“God, Jack,” she gasped, reaching back to fist a handful of his hair, holding on for dear life.

“You’d like that, huh? Like that first night in the Jeep…” He picked up his pace, hitting the perfect spot each time. “Wouldn’t stop until you were wrung out. Couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. Those gorgeous legs of yours quakin’…”

As he circled her clit with his thumb, Caitlin saw stars.

“Oh fuck, I’m gonna come, Jack,” she mumbled into the crook of her arm, muffling her cries.

Licking a stripe up the curve of her neck, he gave her a love bite just behind her ear.

“That’s it,” he said, continuing to play her like a finely tuned instrument. “You get yours.”

Caitlin shattered apart instantly, knees going soft as each wave of pleasure tore through her. Biting the sleeve of her shirt, she kept herself from screaming his name as he continued to slam into her.

“Please, Jack,” she moaned, voice ragged.

He started to slow but she twisted her fingers in his hair.

“More,” she added. “I can take it. C’mon.”

Dropping his forehead to her shoulder, Booker groaned. “Drivin’ me crazy, songbird.”

She grinned as she braced against the tree again.

They’d already been pushed to their brink again and again.

Had survived, had fought and killed to stay together. Were more intertwined than she’d thought two souls could be.

Finding each other’s edges again felt like staking claim, declaring their home in one another.

She couldn’t stand the thought of letting that sensation go yet.

Caitlin’s nails slipped to the nape of Booker’s neck, clawing across damp skin as he thrust even deeper inside her.

“You’re mine,” she breathed, arching her back. “Only mine.”

Booker nodded against her shoulder, grunting. “Yours, Cae.”

Tapping her clit with two fingers, he found a rhythm that had her cursing and breathless in moments.

Her second climax was barreling towards her, threatening to send her to the ground, but Booker held her tight, keeping her up.

His hand covered hers, pressing her palm harder against the rough bark. She relished the pricks of pain mixing with delight as she fluttered around his cock.

“Jack, I’m—” She bit the rest of her sentence off, already falling apart again.

Moments later, he withdrew with a sharp inhale, and she felt his release against her inner thigh.

Booker groaned, dropping his head between her shoulder blades.

“Sorry, darlin’,” he said between trailing kisses up her spine. “Realized we should be more careful.”

In her satisfied haze, Caitlin couldn’t begin to care about the mess. She giggled softly, resting her head on her arm.

“Do I look like I’m complaining?” For emphasis, she pushed back against him once more, drawing out a moan.

Leaning down, Booker kissed the corner of her mouth. “Y’look like a very pleased almost-missus,” he teased.

Caitlin turned in his arms, grabbing him by the shirt and hauling him into a deep, bruising kiss.

Dragging her teeth over his raw bottom lip, she said, “Not an almost.”

In the dark, Booker stared down at her.

They were claimed.

They were home.

Together.

“You’re right,” he whispered, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. “You ain’t an almost.”

Caitlin smiled.

She’d still never take his last name.

“Okay, now I’m hungry.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Chapter Seven

Geeks. Over thirty of them.

And they all were shuffling around the fork in the road they needed to take.

“Damn,” Booker muttered, withdrawing his knife from his belt. “Too many to run over. Gonna have to clear ‘em.”

“Don’t you want your rifle?” Nicole asked from the back, already reaching for it.

Booker shook his head. “Nah, gunfire’ll just bring more. We’ll pick a few off, make a path. Cae, you hit the gas when I give the signal.”

Chewing the inside of her lip, Caitlin stared at the rotting bodies stumbling along the asphalt.

“I should come out with you,” she said.

“You’re better behind the wheel,” he told her, gaze flicking to Nicole and back. “Plus, she’s got a hell of an arm.”

Before she could argue, Booker leaned forward, kissing her. Then he was out of the Jeep, boots landing solidly on the ground.

Nicole followed quickly, aluminum baseball bat firmly in her grasp.

She’d been thrilled to find it on one of their runs and had proved
