I know. Whatever happened Saturday night, she isnโ€™t guilty of much more than maybe being overly horny.

I grin, hiding my desire behind a boyish mask. โ€œI bet this is the last place you expected me to show up after you left me for dead.โ€ My tone isn't harsh but playful. Iโ€™m trying to break the ice, but it seems to have the opposite effect.

Roxy frowns, crossing her arms over her chest. โ€œI didnโ€™t leave you for deadโ€”โ€

โ€œI checked the footage. I saw that sick bastard putting a roofie in your drink,โ€ I interrupt. โ€œI know you had nothing to do with it.โ€

Surprise shoots across her face. โ€œYou did?โ€

I nod. โ€œWeโ€™ve set the bouncers and other staff to be on the lookout. But it still doesn't explain why you left like you did. And why you took my wallet and never came back with it.โ€

Roxy looks worried at first, then she cocks her head, smirking at me. โ€œWell first of all, I thought I sent you straight to heaven,โ€ Roxy says with spunk showing up in her voice. โ€œIโ€™ve gotta say, Iโ€™ve met a few guys who couldnโ€™t hang with me, but never one who finished before we even got started. I didnโ€™t peg you as one of those.โ€

I chuckle. โ€œIs that right?โ€

โ€œOh, yeah. Had Mr. Creepy Bastard not gotten in the way, I wouldโ€™ve showed you what paradise truly looks like.โ€

I have to laugh. It feels good to talk to her. I canโ€™t believe my luck that I ended up where she works. โ€œBut seriously,โ€ I say. โ€œWhat happened?โ€

Roxyโ€™s expression turns serious, and she walks over to the chair in front of my desk, sitting down when I give her a nod. โ€œTo be honest, when you started acting all Weekend at Bernieโ€™s, I freaked out. I actually thought you keeled over for a second there.โ€

Iโ€™m caught up quickly as Roxy starts with her story, telling me everything that happened in painstaking detail. โ€œSo when I heard your friend coming, who has a foul mouth, by the way, I panicked and ran out. It was only after we got back home that I realized I still had your wallet.โ€

I stand there, silently taking in her story. Itโ€™s not really that hard to believe. Especially when itโ€™s basically the scenario that I told myself happened over and over. Iโ€™m relieved to find out I was right. Because for some reason, I hate to think that the angelic vision in front of me is a thief. โ€œSo why didnโ€™t you come back?โ€

She bites her lower lip. โ€œIt was all so crazy. I thought no one would believe me. I still have your wallet with me, actually. Itโ€™s at my desk in my purse. I can go get itโ€”โ€

I shake my head. Weโ€™ve already wasted enough of my new work time. And I know it already looks weird that Iโ€™ve brought her into my office. I need to start getting work done. โ€œYou can give it to me later, after work,โ€ I say. โ€œDid you touch anything in there?โ€

She shakes her head. โ€œEverythingโ€™s there. Iโ€™ll drop it off hereโ€”โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ I interrupt her. โ€œBring it by the club.โ€

She pauses, confusion coming over her face. โ€œClub Jasmine? Why would I do that when I can give it to you here?โ€

I nod. โ€œIโ€™ve got two reasons Iโ€™d rather you bring it to the club. First, because Nathan owes you an apology, and that needs to be delivered face to face. Second, Iโ€™d like to start back where we left off.โ€

I love how it knocks her a little off balance. Seeing the flush that comes to her cheeks, Iโ€™m reminded of how she looked in the club. Her lips part as she nervously licks them. โ€œBut Itโ€™s a work night andโ€”โ€

โ€œItโ€™s fine. Iโ€™ll make sure you're back home by ten.โ€ I give her a little wink.

I can tell she wants to. Sheโ€™s warring with herself. She probably canโ€™t believe I still want to be with her. โ€œI donโ€™t know, Jake. Maybe itโ€™s better if we stay apart.โ€

โ€œOh, come on. We work in the same office, and youโ€™re going to be reporting to me frequently,โ€ I point out. โ€œConsider this a business meeting where we can get to know a little more about each other.โ€

I donโ€™t know why Iโ€™m pushing this issue. The dynamics have changed considerably. Iโ€™m her boss now, and maintaining a respectful relationship will be a challenge. But Iโ€™ve always been one to take a challenge and conquer it. Looking at Roxy, I want to conquer her, but probably not in the way that I should be thinking.

Roxy gives me an evaluating look, then nods. โ€œFine. What time?โ€

โ€œMeet me there at eight. Bring your friend if you want.โ€

Roxy nods, then gets up. โ€œOkay. Uhm, Jake . . . this is weird.โ€

I nod, grinning. โ€œI know. But Iโ€™ll see you at eight.โ€

Roxy goes to the door and opens it. โ€œOh, and Miss Price?โ€ I call out, slipping into more formal talk now that Elena might overhear.

โ€œYes, sir?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t forget the wallet.โ€

Roxy smirks and walks out of the office.Roxy

โ€œSo, how do I look?โ€ I ask, turning away from my bedroom mirror to face Hannah. Instead of the bright red, tonight, Iโ€™m opting for something darker. I donโ€™t want to admit that Iโ€™m dressing up for Jake again, but as soon as I got home from work, I couldnโ€™t imagine going back to Club Jasmine wearing what I wore for work.

So I found this, and Iโ€™ll admit it feels even more like coming back to who I am. Dark makeup and a dark dress help slim my frame, while Iโ€™ve got on four-inch open-toe heels that make my legs and ass look good. โ€œI canโ€™t believe Iโ€™m going back there,โ€ I admit to Hannah, whoโ€™s sitting on my bed and giving me an critiquing look. โ€œI mean, after what happened, I figured Club Jasmine would be one step from the seventh circle of hell in terms of places I didnโ€™t want to visit.โ€

โ€œSo why are you doing it again?โ€
