to get her a drink, but fuck if I didn’t have one after she ran off. I knew better than to run after her, though. She needs space and it’s obvious as fuck.

My mind replays our little kiss on the couch, and my cock throbs for more of her. She’s all I seem to be able to think of and I need more.

Charm had changed, after coming back from the zoo with the kids, into a flowy sundress that I would’ve loved to see hiked over her waist while I bent her over to take in the view of her bare ass. Or better yet, remove it altogether. Leaving her in only the necklace hanging around her neck.

Was it the necklace I’d given Amanda the money to buy for her? Either way, it had been beautiful sitting against Charm’s chest. It suited her and the way she seemed to be.

I’m consumed with my thoughts of all things Charm, I didn’t hear the bikes coming down the road. I didn’t notice until Runes, Dag, Rati, and Logi step inside.

“What the fuck, VP?” Dag mutters, looking at me sitting on the couch with my hands braced on my knees, holding my head within them. “Prez, I think we need more than the one bottle of liquor tonight.”

“I’m good,” I mutter. “I just got a lot on my mind.”

“You can say that again. Shit, today was gruesome,” Logi grimaces as he moves further into the house.

“So, what’s on your mind?” Rati asks, and I look between all the men to meet my Prez’s gaze.

“Is it wrong of me to want someone after losing someone like Amanda?” I ask the question before stopping myself. None of them know what’s going through my mind right now, or how crazy I feel from it all. Fuck, it’s practically ripping me in two.

“Shit, VP,” Runes says, stepping further into the house and throwing himself into the recliner. “I don’t think it’s wrong. Honestly, you two hadn’t been together in years. What you to had together was something special and unique. I wish Tor’s mom wasn’t a bitch, maybe then we’d get along a hell of a lot better. Anyways, what I’m getting at is Amanda wanted you happy we all knew that.”

“Just go fuck the neighbor and be done with the bitch talkin’ like you’ve got a pussy between your legs,” Logi snickers.

“Fuck you, asshole,” I say, giving him a menacing glare.

“No thanks. I prefer a set of soft legs with a sweet rack attached to the body rather than a hard dick and pecs,” Logi laughs and plops down on the loveseat.

“Why haven’t we killed him yet?” Dag grumbles.

“I don’t know, but he needs to shut the fuck up before I gut his ass here and now,” I mutter.

“Just saying it how it is, VP.” Logi shrugs.

“Well, keep it to yourself,” I grumble.

“I thought you claimed her already,” Rati points out.

“Yeah, I did, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready for this shit,” I grumble.

“Well, why not? I have to agree with Logi on the fact you should go over there and fuck her brains out. Show her what she’s missing out on.” Rati grins.

“I do need to go over there and have a talk with her,” I murmur to myself while leaning back into the couch and running a hand over my face. “You guys cool with staying here and keeping an eye on the kids for me?”

“Naw, go take care of your woman,” Runes chuckles. “And no more of this bitch talk otherwise, we’re gonna be the next to grow vaginas and that shit ain’t gonna happen to me.”

Shaking my head, I stand.

“Ugh, before you go, you might wanna change your clothes. You have some dried blood on your shirt and jeans,” Dag advises.

Fuck.

I quickly go to my room and change out of my clothes and throw a pair of basketball shorts on, forgoing a shirt altogether. I decide to go out the backdoor and cross the grass leading up to her back porch and knock.

“Open up, baby. I know you’re in there,” I say, hearing movement on the other side of the door.

The lock slides and the door opens slowly to reveal the sight of her. She’d already changed out of her sundress into something similar to this morning’s outfit when I’d come to get her for breakfast.

“We need to talk, Charm,” I rasp, loving the sight of her with the moonlight shining over her like a beacon. One that keeps me from wanting to crash and burn. Or better yet calls for me to take her into my arms and not let go as I make her mine.

Maybe Amanda was right all along, and I should have listened to her during those times she’d wanted me to meet Charm.

Just maybe . . . maybe Charm is the one meant to be mine and take the maliciousness out of my soul.

Chapter Fifteen

Charm

“It’s late, Fenrir. I’m tired.” It’s a bullshit excuse, but I’ll try it. I’m not tired. I’m rattled. Rattled because this man is making me feel things I never thought I would. I mean, fuck, I want to feel this way with someone, whether it be a man or a woman, but this man? Amanda’s ex . . . it’s too weird.

I’m wearing a t-shirt with a pair of bike shorts, and obviously no bra underneath. I can’t miss the way his eyes linger on my rack for a few seconds too long. My core heats up at the thought of him raking over my body, wondering what he’s thinking about me, but I need to snap myself out of it.

“I think that’s a bullshit excuse.” Well, he’s not wrong.

“Fenrir, I can smell the alcohol on your breath.”

He nods. “Yeah, I had a drink. I’m not drunk by any means, baby.”

We can’t do this. The kids are so important to me, and I don’t want to lose them if we go down this road and it doesn’t work out.
