โA little surprise,โ Hannah says behind a little sip. She gives Jake a look. โCan I talk to your bride for a moment? I know yโall were getting your bump nโ grind on, but it will only take a sec.โ
Jake chuckles, stepping away. โSure.โ
Hannah winks at him as I give her a playful scowl over the rim of my drink. โThis had better be good for sending my husband away like that.โ
โIโve decided to quit my job at Franklin,โ Hannah announces suddenly, causing me to gawk in shock. โI just . . . watching you, Roxy, I realize I want to be more than an office drone too. And with you gone, it just isnโt fun anymore. Iโve already talked to the landlord. Iโm gonna move out and downsize to something more affordable, chase my dream.โ
โWhat is it?โ I ask, and Hannah grins.
โNot too sure yet, but Iโve always wanted to travel the world and take pictures. Maybe Iโll figure it out along the way. Iโve managed to square away a little nest egg until I get it sorted out, I think.โ
I raise my glass, and we toast each other. โWell, then, to Hannah Fowler, whoโs going to be the sassiest bitch traveling the globe.โ
โAnd to Roxy Stone, whoโs the baddest bitch on stage. I love you, babe.โ
I sip my drink and look across the floor. Jake has already found a new dancing partner in his sister, Sophie. She looks gorgeous in her pink gown, her arms wrapped around her brotherโs neck, staring up at him with love. I canโt hide the smile on my face. Iโm never going to be her mother, but big sister? I feel like that already.
โI love you too, babe,โ I say, returning my gaze to Hannah. โAnd hey, donโt be a stranger, okay?โ
โDamn right. Iโm couch surfing with a pop star!โ
I laugh and take a longer sip of my drink. โYeah, well, this pop star is going to finish her drink and then find her husband so she can go consummate this union. Youโll never guess what weโre taking to the honeymoon.โ
โWhat?โ Hannah asks, and I grin.
โIโll send you pics,โ I say, giving her a wink.
At that moment, the music cranks up. Unlike the normal moldy mix of old pop classics that are โsafeโ for some of the older crowd to listen to, Jake and I flew in our DJ from Club Jasmine, and as the bass fills the floor, weโve got plenty getting down and dirty. This is my wedding, after all, and I give absolutely zero fucks if someone doesnโt like it.
Laughing, I stand there, bobbing my body to the music, watching the room as Hannah waltzes off in search of a dancing buddy. Iโll let Jake get in a few more moments with his sister, knowing that after theyโre done, heโs mine for the night.
For the next several minutes, my heart is filled as I take in all the people I love under one roof, having the time of their lives. Mom is dancing with John, Brianna with Gavin, and Mindy with Oliver. Even Hannah has finally found a guy to grind on, Oliverโs younger brother, Tony. Itโs weird. They donโt even know each other, but they look like theyโre having a good time together.
All feels right with the world.
Feeling like itโs time, I make my way over to my husband, desire heating my core. Jake looks up and separates from Sophie as I approach, a giant grin on his face.
โHey, Jake, you big stud,โ I say softly, wrapping my arms around his neck. โTake me to bed or lose me forever.โ
โYour wish is my command.โ
Jake pulls me closer, growling lightly as he sweeps me off my feet, and to the hoots, hollers, and cheers of our family and friends, he carries me from the reception hall and into the rest of our lives.

Hannah - A year ago . . .
The chimes of wedding bells are like a golden symphony to my ears. If I ever have a wedding, I want it to be as beautiful as this one, I think to myself. The stunning hall on the edge of the sea, the whole place bedecked in white and goldโitโs like a true fairytale wedding. I smile as I watch my best friend, Roxy Priceโexcuse me, Roxy Stoneโhaving a blast with her new husband, Jake. They are just too cute together. I might have been wrong about them at first. I was too caught up in stupid office politics shit, but looking at them now, I know the truth. Theyโre perfect, made for each other. It makes me want to reach for my camera.
โNow Mary Jo, I donโt give a single fuck about what the doctors say. If I want to get out there and show these kids a thing or two about how to rodeo on the dance floor, then Iโm going to do it!โ Roxyโs grandmother, Ivy Jo, says. โYou know, it was these hips that got you into the world!โ
I laugh as I wistfully take in the dynamics of Roxyโs family. Theyโre foul-mouthed, even more than Roxy, and Ivy Jo, in particular, has zero filter on expressing her opinions. I love them all, and I wish I had more people like them in my life.
My skin pricks when I feel eyes on me and turn my head. The man looking at me leaves my heart skipping in my chest as I take in his magnificence. The feeling of his sea-green eyes feasting on me has my blood rushing through my veins, and I feel myself flush, smiling without even thinking.
God, heโs fucking handsome. I almost feel like heโs familiar. Something about him . . . he looks like someone I know. I canโt really focus, though, as he smiles at me, the kind of smile that says he takes what he wants. There isnโt a question of yes or no because nobody says no to him. The way heโs looking at
