At that, both guys stop. “You threatening the law? I always took you for a smart man, Ice. But a smart man knows better than to threaten two cops.”
I can hear the sound of chairs scraping backwards behind me, and I know that my brothers are at my back. Johns and Green are stupid, but they’re not so stupid they believe they can get out of here if they start shit.
“Stay away from Addison,” I tell them again as I pull her in tighter against me. I just met her, only know her name because that’s what Officer John’s called her and already I’m feeling territorial over her. Her curves are fitting me perfectly, and right now, I just want the cops out of here so I can talk to the woman that has already claimed my heart.
It’s a stare-down, and eventually Officers Johns and Green turn and walk out the door.
I can feel Addison’s chest rise and fall against me as she takes a deep breath. She unwinds herself from my arms. “Thank you for that. But you probably shouldn’t have done it. You pissed them off, and they’re going to get even.”
Looking at her, I want to cup her jaw and press my lips to hers. She’s worried about me. And heck if that doesn’t make me want her more. I haven’t had someone worried about me in a long time... if ever.
“I’m not worried about me. Why are they bothering you?”
She rolls her eyes, and I realize then that she’s younger than me, probably too young. But I don’t care. I’m going to claim her.
“I dunno really. They’re bored, I guess. Can I have my wallet back?”
“How did they get your wallet?”
“They’ve made a habit of pulling me over at least once a week. Usually messing with me and telling me they’re watching me. This is the first time they’ve taken anything though.”
Instead of handing over her wallet, I grab on to her hand she’s holding out. “I’ll be back, guys,” I tell the three men behind me and pull Addison out the front door of the club. The police cruiser with Officers Johns and Green inside it is sitting at the edge of the parking lot. When they see Addison and me, they put the car into gear and take off, but not before waving at us. My fists clench at my sides. “How long have they been bothering you?”
She’s embarrassed and shrugs her shoulders. “A few months. It seems to be more lately.”
“Why? What do they want from you? How’d you get in their crosshairs?” I jumble all the questions together, but I’m trying to get all the details of what’s going on.
Still she looks embarrassed and unsure. “Well, I’m assuming from the comments they’ve made, that well, Officer Johns at least, likes me. He didn’t seem to take it well when he asked me out and I turned him down.”
“You’re not going out with him,” I tell her.
She looks up at me in confusion. “I know. I just told you that.”
“You know you shouldn’t have followed them in there. They’re bad news.”
She snorts and then stops suddenly, her face turning a pretty red. “Well, what would you suggest I do? Call the cops on the cops?” She gestures to my cut and the Men of Valor MC patch on it. “I’m sure you know that all the cops are dirty in this town.”
“You call me. Next time something like this happens, you call me.”
She doesn’t agree, but instead asks me for her wallet again.
I shake my head, knowing I’m no better than those cops because of the fact that I don’t want to give her the wallet. “Give me your phone.”
She starts to argue with me, but I grunt again, “Give me your phone.”
Fuck, I know I’m an ass and I need to be a little nicer, but that’s not who I am. I want something, I get it. So I know I sound demanding, but I don’t care. She pulls her phone out of her back pocket and hands it to me grudgingly.
I call my phone with it so that I have her number. Then I program my number in her phone.
I hand her phone over to her. I open her wallet and scan her driver’s license. Addison York. I calculate in my head her age and realize she’s twenty-five years old. Fuck, she’s twenty years younger than me, but I don’t care. I then memorize her address before tucking her ID back in her wallet and handing it over.
“Did you just memorize my address?”
“Yes.” I won’t lie to her.
“Uh, well that’s creepy. How do I know you’re one of the good guys?” But before I can respond, she’s already holding her hand up. “Forget it, I know you’re a good guy, you sort of saved me back there. But why do you need to know where I live?”
I have two reasons, but she doesn’t need to know them both. “Johns and Green are not going to just let this go away. They’re going to come back, and until then, I’m going to have someone watching your house to make sure you’re okay.”
“That’s not necessary.”
I shake my head. She doesn’t realize it, but as soon as I say the word she’s going to have the whole MC at her back. They’ll protect her like she’s one of our own.
“Where’s your car?”
She points around back, and I grab her hand and walk her around the side of the building. I pull my phone out. “Patriot. I need you at the Pussy Parlor.”
“Be right there,” he says, and I shut off the phone.
When we get to Addison’s car, I still have a hold of her hand, and I don’t want to let it go. “So, Addison York, what
