Guiding her hands down, Kain smiled reassuringly. “It’s alright. I promise I won’t hurt you. Should you wish to stop, you have but to say so.” He ran his fingertip over the tender skin of her thighs, taking them in his hands. “Open for me.”
Slowly, Tala did what he asked. She felt light-headed when he lowered to his knees between her legs.
Kain began his teasing by letting his tongue glide along the slick lips of Tala’s sex, venturing up to the nub, flicking it with the tip. Her sexual smell made the wolf in him ache with need to mate. The taste of her was sweeter than the richest honey.
Venturing back down, Kain pressed his tongue into the soft opening, finding it swollen and wet. Tala’s sounds pushed him to explore her more.
He breathed hot against her sex.
Tala’s belly was on fire. In all the times they’d had sex, she’d experienced a different kind of arousal. What Kain did to her now made her feel nothing short of desired. He took what he wanted, raising her hips so he could access more of her.
The smell of him permeated her nostrils so strong she couldn’t help but push into him to let him deeper. She was so wet. She wanted him inside her, filling her to the point of bursting.
A muted chuckle from him was the last straw. Her body convulsed with such intense pleasure she had to fight crying out too loud.
Kain’s tongue went deep into her to take as much of her as he could, purring and murmuring for her to give him everything. Gently, Kain set her back down on the bed, licking his lips. His eyes half-lidded with a dark satisfaction.
Tala lay sprawled out, trying to catch her breath against the strongest orgasm she’d ever had.
Kain lay over her, kissing her. She let him kiss down her neck to the dip between her throat and shoulder. “Now, I make love to you.”
Kain rolled her over onto her belly, guiding her hips up so he could enter her, finding her still swollen with need. He guided her back down onto her stomach. Holding her close, he made love to her slowly; pushing as deep as he could into her velvet walls.
Tala arched her hips into his, moving with him to help him further inside of her. His lips placed the lightest kisses down her back and up again. His thumb ran along the length of her lips as he spoke tender, loving words in her ear.
The whole feeling mirrored ecstasy.
Kain’s breath quickening signaled that he was reaching his own climax. A pulsing followed by the sudden rush of heat inside of her as he filled her made Tala giddy with happiness.
When Kain tried to get up, Tala held him inside of her, his body tight against hers. “Not yet. Please. I want to treasure this moment.”
A smile curled across Kain’s lips. She rubbed her body against his stomach and chest. Her bottom sitting perfectly in the groove of his hips.
“Wake up, my dearest soldier.”
Kain woke to a familiar, yet incredibly unwanted voice in his dreams. A high-pitched ringing in his ears made his head pound.
The room seemed like it was spinning.
Holding his head in his hand, Kain’s focus came upon the dark god. A sadistic grin across his fangs. “Did you think I had neglected you?”
The pain in Kain’s hand hurt worse than the burning scars covering his body.
Barghast walked towards Kain, his claw reaching to take lycan’s wounded hand, enraged eyes glowing red amidst the shadows of his mane. He reached for Kain’s face, raising it and seeing the light claw marks over his right eye. “Who has done this, Alexander?”
Kain jerked his face from the god’s claws. The pain in his hand brought about a sense of nausea strong enough to make him vomit if he didn’t focus on controlling it.
“Speak!” Barghast’s commanding voice boomed in the darkness.
Kain said nothing. He didn’t miss Barghast torturing him nor did he appreciate the idea the god was manipulating someone else to get to him.
Someone shaking him while calling his name yanked him from the god’s plane and back into a state of consciousness to find Tala over him with a worried look on her face.
Kain rose. The heel of his hand rested against his eye against the headache. “I’m fine, Tala.”
“Are you sure? You were holding your hand and flailing.”
Kain attempted to smile. “A nightmare. What time is it?”
“It’s only 6 a.m.”
Raising his injured hand to stare at it, Kain sighed. He wasn’t getting anymore sleep not with an angry god wanting answers he wasn’t willing to give. Instead, he decided to go downstairs and make some coffee and breakfast.
While the food cooked, Kain decided to check the phone Desdemona gave him. Zane sent a text telling him he was closing in on Stoker and when and where Desdemona wished to meet.
“Don’t think I’ve seen you so down in a while.” Gabriel poured a cup of coffee after entering the room. “Something you want to talk about?”
Kain sighed, closing his eyes and imagining his cabin. He missed the quiet routine he had, the sound of the forest and the cool evenings when he sat on his porch to watch the sun set. “I … am tired, my friend. For five hundred years I stood on the battlefield. I think it might be wearing on me.”
Gabriel refilled Kain’s coffee and offered him a seat. “I can imagine. You’re one of the oldest living among us. In truth, I tried to tell Damien not to go out there. Not because I didn’t think he wasn’t going to see how you were but because I knew he’d ask you to be his beta.”
Kain took a drink of his coffee. “It would not have mattered. With Bard involved, it was only a matter of time. He would have sought
