if he’d do anything to have her for himself?

He snorts, turning to look at me. “Don’t even think about asking me for help,” he rasps.

“Why is that?” I ask, arching a brow.

He shakes his head once, his brows turning down into a frown, his lips forming a straight line. “Because that is my sister right there. My fucking sister. I made the mistake of asking her to bring me something one day while I was on the job. She walked in, he saw her, and she never left.”

“Why don’t you kill him?” I ask.

He clears his throat, his jaw hard and then he finally looks to his feet before he lifts his gaze up to meet my own. “Because killing him doesn’t change what he’s done, and it doesn’t stop his friends.”

“Why don’t you just turn him in or better yet, expose his ass to the public?” I ask.

He shakes his head. “His reach goes beyond that, and I have a mother and little brother to take care of.”

“Then you’re a pussy. You see what he did to her tonight, what he forced me to do to her. If you think it’s going to get any better, you’re an idiot.”

“I’m saving three lives for one. Taylee is pretty, but she’s never been a saint and I don’t pretend she has ever been.”

“You’re a pussy and a piece of shit, good to know.”

He lets out a rumbling laugh. “If you thought Walsh hired decent people, you thought wrong, man.”

“Your own fucking sister,” I hiss. “Your fucking sister.”

“If he wanted my brother, I’d hand him over, too,” he states.

“You’re a sick and twisted psycho.”

He leans forward, a smile spreading across his face. It’s maniacal and I realize that he’s telling me the truth, he truly would hand anyone over to Walsh. He won’t help me, he’s proving getting his rocks off at what happens around here, his sister being part of it or not means absolutely nothing to him.

“I know I am, Hawk. You’re surrounded by them, so you better get used to it. Just wait until he has a party, you’re going to have so much goddamn fun and eventually you’ll become one of us. You’ll see.”

“Go fuck yourself,” I grind out.

He hums. “Got a promotion last month, got my own prize to fuck now, so no, I don’t think that I will.”

Without another word, he marches toward the girl, his sister, and reaches for her. I don’t know why, but I expect him to be a decent fucking human and gather her in his arms.

He doesn’t.

Instead, he grabs her by the back of the hair just like Walsh did to my Avah. He drags her off of the bed and stomps away, her body nothing more than a rag doll being slung from side to side as he walks.

My stomach twists.

Looking up to the ceiling, I do something that I don’t think I’ve ever done before and I’ll probably never do again, if I’m being completely honest.

I fucking pray.

I’ll take care of her. I’ll marry her. I’ll give her a whole fucking baseball team full of babies. I’ll do whatever you want me to, God, just let us get out of this. Let her get out of this. Even if I don’t make it, let Avah live and let her live happily.

Chapter Twenty-Four

AVAH

The senator locks me in a bedroom, slamming the door closed and locking it from the outside. I don’t bother even trying the doorknob, it’s not worth it. Instead, I walk past the bed, not even seeing it as I make my way toward the window.

There are bars on the window, which means I won’t be able to get out or allow any of the Beasts to get in, either. Biting the bottom of my lip, I look out at the desertscape. The land goes out farther than I had anticipated.

I thought that this was just a regular neighborhood, but as I look around the back of the property, I’m surprised to see that there is nothing but desert. There is the wrought-iron fencing all the way around, but past that there is nothingness.

This is the perfect house for a freak like the senator. Nobody will see his little group of men coming and going from the back. Which means nobody will probably see the Beasts. The only thing they need to do is disable the security system, if they can figure out how.

Something catches the corner of my eye and I shift my gaze over to see a little glint, a silvery little movement. The men, the Beasts. They’re waiting for their opportunity. I just hope that it doesn’t come too late.

Turning my back to the window, I try to hide the hopeful smile that plays on my lips. I take in the room, looking around I’m surprised by the comforts that I’ve been allowed. There is a bed with a mattress, sheets, and pillows. There is an en suite bathroom, complete with shower and toilet.

Reaching for the closet door, I slide it open and am not surprised to see that it’s empty. I won’t be given clothes here or even a modicum of any sort of privacy. The door slowly opens and I lift my gaze up to see the senator standing in front of me.

His gaze roams down my body, only pausing at my breasts before he lifts his eyes back up to meet my own.

“You’ve gained weight, more than I had anticipated. From this moment on, you’ll be on a liquid diet. One protein drink a day. It’s tasteless, bland. It will help you to crave my cum. Because that will be the only flavor you receive from now until the day you die.”

I don’t bother saying anything in response. Hopefully, I’ll only have to endure a few protein drinks and as minimal amount of cum as possible.

He takes a step toward me, leaving the bedroom door open and if I was fast enough, I could use this as my opportunity to
