into idiots when it comes to gorgeous men. We can’t help ourselves. It’s all the emotion and pheromones shooting through our nervous system…and, well, to our clit.”

I blink, loving her dirty mouth. “Well, if women turn into idiots, then I’m not sure what women make men.”

“Usually douche bags.”

“What about me?”

“Well, like I said earlier, I don’t have enough information to go from…but from what I have gathered tonight, you’re a man who isn’t afraid to go after what he wants. And I’m also guessing you get exactly what you want.”

“Well, that isn’t entirely true. I don’t always get what I want. I mean, when I was seven, all I wanted for Christmas was a telescope, but I got a kaleidoscope instead.”

“That doesn’t count.” She laughs lightly as she sips down her drink.

“It really does. It ruined my Christmas.”

She shakes her head, continuing to laugh.

Nudging my knee against hers, I say, “Another thing I’ve gathered is, I like that I can make you laugh.”

“You were definitely unexpected this evening—that’s for sure.”

“Is that a good thing?”

“I think so, yeah, but there is probably one thing you should know.”

“What’s that?”

“I just moved back into town for the summer, and I’m not looking for a boyfriend or a serious relationship.”

“What are you looking for?”

“Honestly? Fun. I have a pretty intense life…and starting Monday, it’s about to get even crazier for the next three years. So, if you did want to entice me into bed, this weekend would be the perfect time.”

“So, that’s why the girl comment from Jason didn’t scare you away?”

“Yes, but that isn’t the reason why. I knew you were a player from the second I saw you; guys as smooth as you aren’t one-woman kind of guys.”

I feel like I’ve met the woman of my dreams, and knowing she doesn’t want anything serious is the damn icing on the cake. Fun—I can definitely do that. Fun is what I’ve been practicing my entire life.

Inching closer, I press my leg further into hers and focus intently on her blue eyes. “I kind of think we’re a match made in heaven.”

She draws in closer to me until I can literally taste her whiskey-scented breath along mine. “How do you figure that?”

“Well, you’re single; I’m single. You’re not looking for anything serious, and neither am I. You’re attracted to me, and I’m,” I say, looking her up and down for a moment, taking in her perfect features, “so attracted to you that all I want to do is bite down on my fist at how fucking beautiful you are. And that rarely happens to me.”

Her cheeks glow under the dimmed lights of the bar, a hot-as-fuck smile curving her lips. “I like where this is going.”

“How about you finish your drink, and then between now and tomorrow morning, we’ll get to know each other on a totally different level? You know, since we’re on the same page.”

“Can I just check two things?”

“Okay…” I say, bemused.

She closes the distance until she’s almost brushing her lips with mine. “If I’m going to dedicate my evening to a hot night of passion with a stranger I just met, then I need to make sure that, one, you can kiss.”

My mind spins out of control as her lips press down on mine, and I happily open my mouth to her as she checks if I’m a good kisser. I am. I know I am…but I’m happy to allow her to do her own assessment. Hell, she can experiment on me all damn night if she wants to.

She barely traces her tongue with mine when she pulls away, leaving me yearning for more.

Smiling flirtatiously, she looks me in the eyes as her hand slides along my thigh, going higher and higher until she reaches just before my crotch. “And two…if you’re packing.”

I almost swallow my tongue as her fingers crawl along my bulge—which, with every passing second, is getting harder. She grips me tight within the palm of her hand. I grind my jaw as my cock pulsates at the feel of her around me.

Jesus fucking Christ.

“There’s just nothing worse than being with a hot guy, only to find out he’s carrying a Tootsie Roll.”

I snort.

Oh, trust me, she’s got no worries there.

“But it seems you’re carrying a pistol, so I have nothing to worry about.”

“What about the kiss?” I just about manage to spit out as her hand continues to grip my said pistol.

“From the quick taster, I think you just might be the best kiss of my life.” She lets go of my dick. “Just one last question.”

God, anything, if it means she’ll put me out of my goddamn misery.

“Are you clean?”

“I am cleaner than a fucking whistle, Ever. Now, can I ask a question of my own?”

“Yeah, sure,” she says, drinking the rest of her old-fashioned.

“Your place or mine?”

Setting her empty glass on the table, she gets to her feet and holds her hand out for me. “Yours. I want to see where the man in the Armani suit lives.”

Though we both got a little excited in the bar, the cab to my apartment is relatively calm. At least for her. Me? I might seem calm on the outside, but my insides are about ready to explode with the pheromones running through my body. I’ve been half-mast ever since she took her hand off my cock. I’ve felt horny thousands of times, but this is different. It’s like when you get a static shock; the energy is pulsating in little bursts of fire to every cell of my body. Only it’s less pain and more pleasure…except the need and want I have for Ever is unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. I could come out of my skin from how much I want her. It’s frustrating but completely satisfying at the same time. It’s a contradiction of so many things that it’s making my head spin but in a good fucking way.

When I let Ever into my apartment, I expect us to start
