I hated that idea. โPerfect.โ
โAll right.โ The guy gave us a knowing smile. โYou can go for the day, Jurnie, and weโll get things started on our end.โ
โThank you so much for this opportunity.โ My girl gave him a big grin.
I shook all of their hands, then it was time to go. With even less time together, we might have to get naked in the car. I didnโt fucking care. All I knew for sure was that I was getting inside her before I left. She was the only person who could stop that from happening.
โI canโt believe this,โ she said as she sat back against the passenger seat of her car. Sheโd tossed the keys to me. โI have to tell my parents. Pack. What the heck do I bring on the road with me?โ
โCall Lexi or Daisy. Theyโll tell you.โ I pulled her car out onto the street. Luckily, I knew the fastest way to my apartment. Weโd have about two hours before I had to start my way to the airport. โIโm not sure what women need on the road.โ
She giggled. โIโll do that. Are we going to your apartment?โ
โUnless you object, yes.โ
โI donโt object,โ she said quickly. โDonโt you need to eat?โ
โOpen the app, order us food, I really donโt care what, and itโll be there when we get there. We can eat after.โ
โOn it.โ She tapped away on her phone without asking any questions. I really didnโt give a fuck what kind of food showed up. If it meant even five more minutes with Jurnie, Iโd eat whatever got dropped off.
โIโm sorry I ran,โ she told me quietly. My hand tightened on her thigh.
โI get why you did. But all of thatโs settled.โ I pulled into my apartment complex, found a spot to park, and turned her car off. โI fucking love you, Jurnie. Iโll do whatever I have to do to keep you happy.โ
โIโd like to think Iโm pretty low maintenance in most areas. That just hit me hard for some reason. It wonโt happen again.โ My girl climbed over until she was straddling my lap. โI love you too.โ
Her fingers caressed the sides of my face as she leaned in to kiss me.
This was much different than at the radio station. This wasnโt excitement and longing. This was love, and if I didnโt get her inside the apartment soon, my neighbors were going to get a show.
All that mattered at this moment was that we were together and within days, Iโd have her on the road, at least for a while, though I hoped for the rest of the summer.
I couldnโt ask for more.
