Sometimes, it takes a long time for a piece of creative work to come together. Birds of Paradise took long enough that some of those who were instrumental in its making did not live to see its completion. This book is in honour of them.

Oliver K. Langmead lives and writes in Glasgow. His long-form poem, Dark Star, featured in the Guardian’s Best Books of 2015. Oliver is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Glasgow, where he is researching terraforming and ecological philosophy, and in late 2018 he was the writer in residence at the European Space Agency’s Astronaut Centre in Cologne.
