Mothers winterize their children
the noonday sun shines
obliquely
the coldest period of the year
brings out the boots, scarves and mittens
smiling cheerful rosy cold cheeks
sparkling eyes shown from underneath
their bundled warmth of love
kids red nosed laughter echoes
down the slippery sliding hills
frozen polar bear tears form
icicles, clear, sharp, disappearing daggers
to those who dare to stand underneath
fireplaces burn fiercely at frozen
toes and hands of frost guarded little ones
sweet hot cocoa and peppermint
warms the coldest soul
you fall endlessly
into past memories
of Christmasβs past, present, future
each recollection tumbles from the darkness
in the mind
like night snowfall
silent, lace flakes falling
each one woven by God different
yet the same

Grandma Rosie
My Grandmothers
kind sky blue eyes
can never disguise
the way she has looked
at me since birth, that Easter April in β86
she would tip toe into
my room when napping
to kiss my forehead
sweetly
we would cook together
in her tiny kitchen
fresh vegetables from
my Grandpa Larryβs garden
she answers to
Mrs. Rose Marie
if close to you, simply Rosie
my middle name
lovely title lives on
another generation
with me
As she grows older
its harder for her to walk
still she humors me with funny stories
I told, when just learning how to talk
she cries each Christmas
with worry it may be her last
we dry her pretty sky blue eyes
and smile
for she looks not a day older
than the pictures of the past
My Grandmothers kind
sky blue eyes
will live on in my heart
when time arrives for
our final Heaven sent
Goodbyes
in which, we part

Mistro
To feel the music
is to be the notes
your beautiful strong
fingers move up and down
the glass like keys
as the horses you ride
on a merry-go-round
your sleepy eyes close
deep into the falsetto you fall
not of this world
that surrounds you
sometimes it feels like
your music is your mistress
and at times I envy
your time together
the deep connection
the feelings she brings
out, deep, from within your
soul
the way she makes your body
move, without thought
express beyond words
simple sounds combined
in magic melody
to really feel the music
I watch
you are the notes

Photographers are We
Three Generations
of handed down skill
my father, as his father
once did
trains me to read
the light
and shadows
painting with the contour
of my subjects face
turning a cheek, dropping an inch of the chin
so many expressions, where to begin
creators of everlasting life
a person, captured, forever
proof that they once
were of this world
composed with dreams, goals, wishes
everyone on a different path
on the trail of life
All of us, have to die
but our spirits live on
in the photographs I take
Three Generations
of handed down skill
Photographers are We

Under my 8 year old Brothers Bed
Under my 8 year old brothers bed
lies my dog chewed Barbie, no sign of her head
a faded Snoopy cartoon, deflated yellow Birthday balloon
and one stuffed zoo animal baboon
Romote toy car from Uncle Tom
Cassette of Raffi, sing-a-long songs
half a fruit roll-up, and a beat up
tonka truck
A wooden dream catcher, made in Summer camp
his moon and star shaped night lamp
one lonely brown button from his Winter coat
A crumpled crayon castle drawing, complete with
an alligator filled moat
A real rabbits foot, for luck, from Grandpa Mack
half a fourth of July sparkler, old fashioned box of jacks
glass jelly jars of grass, sticks, leaves, assorted bugs
science fair worm farm living in moms old Garden jug
Under my 8 year old brothers bed
it has to be said, if you find yourself lost
beneath it
you are as good
as dead!
6.
Ocean Oasis
I walk upon
Tiny golden pebbles of warmth
forcing me to dance
to meet the sparkling
waves of diamonds
the cool crisp water
envelopes me, as a
child in mother earth
womb
I float, for a moment
the world, and I
are one
A wave, like Goliath
comes crashing
down above me
breaking into a million miniature
bubbles, that tickle
my bare flesh
quickly disappearing, as
fast as they greeted me
feeling like a small marine creature
in Gods vast aquarium
the sun, a spotlight shine
hits my face, beneath the depths
and I follow the trail of light
to my first breath above surface
beautiful pain
as the waited sound
from a newborn child
7.
As I lay Upon Mother earth
Wishful thinking
rests upon soft summer
butterfly wings
warm breeze
swims across my body
taking with it
my
thoughts, dreams,wishes
now they float, high
above the endless
clouds, like seeds
from an empty
dandelion stem
suns rays
wrap me in an invisible
blanket of comfort
tiny, speckles of wet
dew drops from morning
when God kissed the ground
As I lay, feeling
the touch of mother earth
I drift to dream freely
my Native ancestors
dancing and chanting
the songs of my people
the Chickasaw
A sudden itch on my nose
brings me back to the present
and as my sleepy eyes lift
from crescent slivers
to full dark chocolate moons
I watch as a monarch
dance across my face
and kisses my cheek with
its powdery wing
as it travels
above the endless clouds
like the dandelion seeds
8.
Under the broken Moon
Under the Broken Moon
your eyes meet mine
liquid to a silver spoon
late night cab ride
Amy Winehouse on repeat
with each minute, my hear skips a beat
candle light scents linger
as well as your smooth long fingers
up and down my bare back
like clockwise
you attack
my neck, like a vampire
under the broken moon
with eyes, black and dark
a hammerhead shark
obscure and mysterious
you circle me, your prey
I think of the ways, you will contort
my body, and have your way
melting, slowly, into your muscular
body, until the whispers
soak into the next day
under the broken moon
In the hallway, I hear a creak
silent slumber betrayed
be not my loves defeat
eyes wide, silent, still
minutes drag like hours
none to be spared
I bite my lip
struggle to hold back a
deep moan, as you
pull my long brown hair
under the broken moon

Death to Love
Who needs love
itβs hoping another person
is there for you
and when they are not
you are disappointed
why care?
why wish for someone?
they only let you down
and when you think you know
someone
you donβt
they hide a secret
they keep a number
do something behind your back
then what, huh?
what was the point of love
to fall for someone
just to be left sad and alone
when you find out
they are not who you think they are
who needs love
itβs fake
then you wake up
and you realize you are better off
alone
who needs love
I love myself
10.
Two Shades of Love
Two different shades
of Gods love
become as one tonight
I lie awake, silent, listening
to the breath of the night
you soft words beat
upon my heart and eardrums
sending me smiling
into my slumber
11.
Broken love
Broken Love
open flesh wound makes up my heart
Burning love
wax heart, dripping and burning
Smoking love
eating away, deep at my soul
12.
Traced into my honey Flesh
As the waves of the Sea kiss the sand
from a nearby band
to the laughter of children
around the land
time stops still when
you take my hand
deep footprints in my heart
of us slow dancing in the dark
silent conversations for hours
when you look into my eyes, my soul, such power
past lives together, history unknown
my loves strong fingers journey felt across my back
traced into my honey flesh, like a rare
piece of art
like a fine wine
I taste your lips and inhale your scent
swirl your kisses around in my mouth
a strong taste remains on my tongue
worth fighting for
a love worth having
always will be
13.
Not a single sound whispered
I snuggle into you
like an afternoon dream
your warm chest
beats a song against my back
as I lay, held on your lap,
you petal soft lips
sweep gently across
my neck
like a dancers toes
across a studio floor
sending bursts of passion
all through my veins
just one action
sends a million messages to
my brain like lightning
across a cold stormy sky
your dark long fingers
collect mine, without a pause
your eyes transfixed with mine
speaking a thousand secrets
without a single sound
whispered
14.
Native Princess
Little Indian girls
with their wild dark braids
running barefoot
whisper in the wind
a call to their wild horses
untamable as a true
Indian brave is
feathers of red and yellow
make up their headdresses
as they gallop into the silent arms of the forest
depths
chanting their tribal commands
for the race has begun
first one back to the tribe
is blessed by the strong hand
of the chiefs
such an honor is such
and my steed rides me swiftly
like lightning to victory
I am the chiefs daughter
Tigerfoot is my name
15.
Hint of your Smile
I miss the way
you secretly steal glances at me
my cheeks and how easily they flush
at the very hint of your
smile
I canβt help but blush
you soft caress across my cheek
makes an grown women's knees feel weak
and I wonder
if it be love or lust?
16.
Stand Still, Sweet Time
Once you tiptoe across
my neck with your crimson blood lips
it sends a shiver down my spine
your protective arms around me in a bind
I feel ever so divine
you look deep into my soul with your dark eyes
and tell me β you will always be mineβ
I am lost forever in your flesh
stand still, sweet ticking time
17.
Mighty Children of the Sea
Oh how Mighty are We
the Children of the Sea
and by the waves of Gods
hands
we travel the vast sandy land
in search of treasures wills me
18.
My Man
βLove me like nothing is holding you backβ
She calls from the kitchen sweetly
he sets down his project
and wraps his strong arms
around the one he loves, from behind her
brown curls fall to her lower back
marking his favorite spot to kiss her
smelling of coconut and ocean winds
19.
When I want you to hold me
When all things have
fallen into place
disease stops spreading
bringing fear to the human race
children fall hush like the sound
of angels wings, a
soft hush,
this is when I will call to you,
the time for you my love
to hold me.
20.
At my window, I wait for Love
Black and white
two beautiful shadows in the night
I am waiting on mine
in my window, I wait for thee
once the clock strikes one am
then two,
