A Dream

Please let me back into your life
It’s there that I belong.
For me I have no other place
Where I could carry on.

A life where we would be apart
Without you by my side.
The awful sadness we both know
Which I could never hide.

I miss your touch, your sparkling eyes
I even miss your tears.
For when they fell upon your face
I kissed away your fears.

My heart aches, it hurts so much
I’m crying deep inside.
For a love that I have lost
A part of me has died.

Every night I blow a kiss
And whisper ’I love you’,
Then in my dreams and hopeful heart
I pray these may come true.

Searching

I look into the mirror,
Oh no, that can’t be me.
The person looking tired and sad,
I don’t like what I see

Then where am I,
Where have I gone?
I’m drifting far away,
Like a bird who needs to rest
Unsure of where to stay.

I’m searching in this mirror
Calling out my name.
But no one’s coming back to me
To help me ease this pain.

They say that time’s a healer
I pray it won’t take long.
I’ll return into the mirror
So happy, healed and strong.

HOME

I loathe this place
A foreign home
So far away, all alone.
My every day is filled with dread
There’s fear locked deep inside my head.

I have no life, only sorrow
Nothing here for me.
No other choice, just carry on
How long, I’ll have to see.

I hurt so much it makes me cry
It never goes away.
The only chance to save my life
Is to go, I cannot stay.

I have an Angel watching me
Not liking what she sees.
‘This isn’t you’, I hear her shout.
I listen to her pleas.

‘Don’t give up, believe in hope
Be strong you’re not alone.
I trust her words and pray that soon
I leave and go back home.

Charlie Who?

You know what they said about Charlie Brown?
Charlie Brown he’s a clown.

That’s Charlie Brown the ageing clown.
But was that a frown on Charlie Brown?

Did you get close, where you around
When he was down, found on the ground.

His time had come, he’d toured the towns
His acts for free, Cheap Charlie Brown.

Seashells

Seashells on the sea shore,
There’s quite a few but I’m sure there’s more
In the sea where they belong,
Dancing together, singing their songs.

Hold a shell against your ear
It’s the sound of the sea that you will hear.
Seashells drifting with the tide
They know they are safe, as here they hide.

Seashells sit amongst the sand,
Their resting place ‘till human hand
May come along and show delight
The seashells beauty, a wonderous sight.

Seashells waiting for the sea
To take them back where they may be
Left once more to drift along
Dancing again and singing their songs.

CHEERS

Dave and Dora are getting divorced
Been wed for 30 years,
Dora’s found out that something’s afoot
And shed so many tears.

‘It’s not my Dora’, shrieked Aunty Rose,
‘Him, he’s in the wrong’.
‘I’ve heard the rumours running rife
Been going on far too long’.

With head in hands, Dave’s in a state
‘Oh Lord what do I do?’
He’d pushed his luck too many times
With Barmaid Peggy Sue

It wasn’t meant to go that far
Was just a bit of fun.
But now that Dora had found out
He was well and truly done.

‘Serves you right you silly man’.
Dave’s mum and dad told him.
‘You could have found a bowling club,
been better than a fling’.

On bended knees and hands in prayer
Dave begged his angry wife,
To give him just another chance.
He pledged to her his life.

Dora said to leave her be
She needed time to think.
‘OK my love’, said crafty Dave
And nipped out for a drink

It took a while before he saw
The vision in the corner.
But with his mate and cuddled up
As bold as brass was Dora

She raised her glass and bid him cheers
No shame for her behaviour.
Just grateful he’d been found out first
He’d done them both a favour.

Forever

Please, please remember me,
I beg you don’t forget.
We had too many special times,
You surely, don’t regret

The candles glowing in the dark
You lit them just for me.
Then we laid and pledged our love,
No other could there be.

So many days, so many nights
Our love became so strong.
But now you’ve gone, I’m alone,
We know where we went wrong.

Talk to me, don’t shut me out
I know you hurt inside.
What a waste of special love,
A love you’ll never hide.

Remember me, my special love
Don’t ever let me go.
Keep a place inside your heart
A distant love may grow.

Revenge?

Hi there, want to come with me
I’m just on my way out,
I’ll fill you in along the way
Of what this is about.

Let’s take a cab, the treat is mine
A little luxury.
Which makes a start, this special day
And everything’s for me.

Oh here we are, I love this place
This really is my saviour.
Let’s have a drink before I start,
You’re shocked at my behaviour?

Well, I found out my husband dear
Is having an affair.
And after thinking long and hard
I don’t think that I care.

So, then I thought I’d have this treat
I felt the urge to shop.
Find the most expensive store
I’ll shop until I drop.

The sales assistant wraps more gifts,
Now it’s time to pay
I hand across the magic card
‘American Express ok?’

‘That’ll do nicely’

Fiesta

Fireworks light the sky at night, shooting stars, colours bright,
Whooshing, whizzing, thunderous bangs, many hours since this began.

Dancing, singing in the street, clapping hands, stamping feet,
There’s laughter here amongst the crowd, now the music playing loud.

The squeals from children playing games, they wait for this forever
Their special treat they’ve known as babes, it’s ‘party’ time Fiesta!

Couples dance, they twist and twirl, their bodies ooze delight,
They relish every passing hour, on this their special night.

Midnight strikes, the cooking’s done, the crowd know they’ll be full
And so they eat and raise a glass, a toast to say Salud!
