People whisper to me
All the time
That I have my mother’s eyes
And I have my father’s nose
And I have my grandmother’s ears
And my grandfather’s lips,
Leaving me to feel
That I am not myself,
I am someone else
With the features
Of those strangers.
But who are they to determine
What I have on the outside?
Who are they to say
What I look like?
Because each and every
Flower
Is different
Than any other
And I am one of them –
I am a piece of art
Named Myself.
