By the lake, a lonely soul,

mystic light surrounding.

No movement indicates his goal,

one foot tight on the grounding.

Deeply lost within a maze

of thoughts and deep despondency,

he guards the lake, his eyes agaze,

it seems for all eternity.

The sadness that's enclosing him

touches my heart way down,

as if both our love wore thin

and sorrow made us frown.

All of a sudden he takes flight,

his wings they let him soar,

slowly, soundless to the light,

a step he clearly must explore.

So where he goes, I cannot know,

and maybe never will.

But in my heart, deep down below,

I'll keep his picture still.
