Time

A poem by

Tonisha Wisner

What do you do when there is no where to turn?
All the while you thinking you have lived, and learned.
You open your heart and then you get burned.

My eyes burn like fire, because all of the years of tears.
It is crazy how much my heart and soul burn from the fears.
Do we truly mean nothing after all of these years?

There once was a time when I knew who we were.
Do you even know who we are anymore?
I feel that forever you shall walk through that door.
Will you come back home is where I am not sure.

Can you see the pages of our life starting to fade?
When will we step out from under this rain and out of the shade?
We should be happy in this life together that we have made.

The love I feel is deep and the pain I feel is even deeper.
Twisting harder, the knife goes even deeper.
Screaming in agony I open my eyes and, I see her.

Erase every horrible thought from my mind and move on.
Move out from under the rain and shade, and into the sun.
Bring our hearts back together so that we can live on together.
Live on together as a family, forever.

You have brought me so much, and I have brought you so little.
It is not fair that our children are in the middle.
God, I am asking for your help; this should be simple.

Down on my knees is where I am begging, β€œPlease, bring happiness to us!”
Please, heal our pain and build our trust.
Help us to smile and make our hearts blush.

What do you do when there is no where to turn?
When you think that you have lived and learned.
You turn to him with all of your fears, and concerns.
I admit where I went wrong and I want to live and learn.

All that I can do is move forward and make it work.
Understand that I am doing my best to stay on the right path at this fork.
My heart is in this all of the way, but my patience is short.

Forgive me for not being there.
I wasn’t there even though your hearts feelings I was aware.
Taking your feelings and tossing them in the air was unfair.

Time goes by so quickly now.
Seeming almost nonexistent some how.
As if time would stop right here, right now.
Life always goes on, and it doesn’t matter how.
