Staring and wondering what would have been,
But still happy that it wasn’t
You showered me with your wrath instead of love,
I sacrificed all I had,
Just to be kicked on to the street,

Now you stare in despair,
Wishing and wanting,
Hoping for the phone to ring,
And hear my voice again,
Reality check, I have moved on.

Can’t go back again,
To the battering, abuse and shame you have put me through,
Lying to my friends that I fell,
It seemed the best excuse at the time,
Now no more falling.

Its better this way,
For both of us,
Worlds and distances apart,
To reconstruct my life,
And believe in love again.
