The battle starts,
the warriors part.

Blood soaked ground,
screams of the young around.

Still I try,
to make this flag fly.

Bullets like bees,
strike at my knees.

still I run,
the battle's not done.

Smoke fills the air,
But I can't be scared.

I must try
to make our flag fly

My knees are weak,
my heart at its peak
I cannot speak.

I'm almost there, the pole falls,
I catch our flag, above all.

I feel a sting, tears fill my eyes
my job is done, I made our flag fly.

I'm Proud To Be An American.
