Author's Note

I tried to upload this collection way back 2012 in a different title ( Poems for Olive) and some of the poems are still posted in my old blog. I decided to change the title into In Beautiful Solitude which came from my new blog together with my new penname, Maria Ty.  I hope you will enjoy reading my poems.

First Love

You came into my life

in an unexpected way.

It's hard for me to express,

all the things I want to say.

We came from different paths,

so our friendship didn't last.

The music ends, so did the song

Making me wonder what went wrong.

Perhaps, we're not meant to be

But it's hard to set you free

For somehow I still see

A chance for you and me.

I guess this is goodbye

But I know I shouldn't cry

For everything between us,

Is nothing but a lie

I may not be here one day

But there's no reason to regret

Because soon you will forget

The day our young lives met.

Thank you for passing by

And giving me reasons to smile

For you made me happy,

Even just for a little while.

A Wasted Life

I was alone and sad

In this small world I've created

Smoking, drinking, crying

Watching my life being wasted

Silence is my companion

To help me forget and move on

Don't dare to pry,

If you don't want to die.

I hate this cruel world.

I have no one to rely on.

Just a bottle of cold beer

and wipe away my tears.

Here I am in my paradise

With a bandage on my wrist

But then I realized,

I never meant to be like this.

A Second Chance

Another time, another day

Another life, another way

Another chance, another place

Another journey, another face

A sad goodbye, a new beginning

Another love, another meaning

Another song, another hue

Another friend, another you

Suicide

As I walk through the narrow way

Uncertain of what lies ahead

I was tied in the shadow of yesterday

What would have been my life instead

I find it hard to face tomorrow

With the mountain of burdens that I must climb

My heart was filled with tears and sorrow

If only I could turn back time

Remembering those blissful days

that set upon my weary heart

Trying hard to win the race

I lose before I even start

The victory I soon have clutch

Slip my hands like fairy dust

The reverence I long to touch

Will only be a bitter past

If life is all unending test

Uncertain journeys, failures and debts

How I love to finally rest

reach my hand in the solace of death

A Lonely Doll

She's sitting by the window

Waiting for a friend

There is a sign of sorrow

No one can comprehend

They share their thoughts out loud

Thinking she wouldn't care

A lost sheep in the crowd

She's weird beyond compare

She tried not to complain

If others are not fair

But her eyes can explain

The things she tries to bear

They told her to act grown up

She's acting like a child

But when she puts on make up

They say she's getting wild

Confused on how to live

Waiting to be accepted

Praised when she can give

Remembered when she's needed

She wished to be herself

A life that is her own

And not for someone else

Please leave the girl alone.

Innocent Love

As easy as picking flowers

In the midst of summer time

As cool as taking shower

In the rain on valentines

As sweet as eating candies

As bright as Christmas lights

As soft as hugging babies

In a calm, peaceful night

As cheerful as angels

As clear as the blue sky

As splendid as the silver bells

As free as the butterfly

As light as a feather

Beneath a cherub's wing

As lofty as a tower

As radiant as spring

As glorious as victory

As melodious as a song

As savage as the heart can be

As if love can do no wrong

As certain as the past

As confusing as a sign

Like life that happens fast

As bittersweet as wine

Coward

I'm running away from home

I'm running from the bitter past.

I'm running away alone.

I'm running away at last.

Away from painful memories.

The truth I long to find.

Away from endless agonies.

Leaving the hurts behind.

I find them moving forward

Vanished before my eyes.

And I'm left alone a coward

With my strength and vision died.

I could not face tomorrow

There is nothing I can do.

Running away from sorrow

Running away from you.

A Reason Why

Love is enough reason to live

Enough reason to die

And a reason to lie

But you know you shouldn't cry

For everything happens for a reason

and there's a reason why she said goodbye.

I may not know the reason

why you're still holding on.

I may not have the right to tell you

to just let go and move on

I may not know how much you love her

but holding on is not the answer

The time and years you spent together,

If love is gone, it wouldn't matter.

If you think that you can make it through

Ask her why she's not fighting for you

Don't waste your time trying to save it

A selfish love will never grow

For deep inside you can see it

Everything's done a long time ago.

I may never see her the way you do

I know there are things I can't explain

how can you think of the happy times

while ignoring all the hurts and pain?

Fight for love if it's worth the risk

But you know you deserve better than this

Someone who cares and understand

Not just kisses and holding hands

Who makes you feel that you're the one

and still be there when love is gone

when everything seems worth the cry

You will never regret a second try.
