For the last time
He turns: walks directly
Echo, echo, echo.
Behind, beyond – to the rostrum.
No sound.
They sit, the orchestra, tensed,
Ready, waiting, eager,
Sit back, sit up, for the first sign.

He relaxes: turns to face them expectantly
Eager, echo, tensely.
No sound.

Suddenly, suddenly
The air around becomes electrified.
Hairs rise on neck and scalp
All breathing, being
Stops.

The mist, mystery of music
Begins.
