Moonmist


Translucent glow, moon
hanging low over
placid water.

Silence, that eerie flow
of vapour floating
just below her.

Morning moon's buttery gleam
sits on marshmallow mist,
waiting.

Opalescent veil rising,
swallowing morning moon,
cobweb cocoon.

Trees, stark limbed, almost bare,
corralling morning
mist, rising.

Lake waters disappear
under moonmist,
pearling.

Down the cove, thin
mist, barely there
this morning.

When morning mist lifts
above, will the moon still
be shining?
