Some stories tell of princesses, and a time long ago
Others of love like Juliet and Romeo.
This story is different, as you will soon see
As I tell you the tale of the Kimery.
Its eyes were like coals, its teeth sharp as knives,
Its claws were of darkness, and its breath smelled of chives.
It ruled the waters of Bayonet Bay
Till it was slain on a very special day.
When morning had come on the first of June
A hero had risen to save the town soon.
His sword shone like lightning, his cape felt like silk
His eyes twinkled and his breath smelled of milk.
He walked to the edge of Bayonet Bay
And shouted, β€œI shall slay the Kimery today.”
The crowd that had gathered started to cheer
When suddenly a shadow loomed close and near.
The beast had heard the hero’s cries
And out of the Bay he did rise.
The crowd screamed in terror, as did the knight.
They all ran around and shouted in fright.
Suddenly then they heard a strange sound.
A child laughing, away from the ground.
The group looked up and saw a strange sight
A child on the neck of the creature of night.
The creature laughed, then returned to the bay
The child waved, and then turned around to say,
β€œEven a monster can learn to have fun,
And I think our new friendship has just begun.”
The crowd looked at him in awe, and then started to cheer.
The cries would resound for all to hear.
This concludes my little tale,
So remember in life, friendship never fails.
