Love

Love.
What is it?
It's what makes your heart flutter
When you see him smile.

Love.
What is it?
It's the sparkle in your eye
When you're with him.

Love.
What is it?
It's what makes you smile
When you've been crying for hours.

Love.
What is it?
It's what keeps you hoping
When you never hear from him again.

My Love

I look into your eyes
And see my future
Mirrored in their depths.

Your hand brushes
Against my skin
And my heart skips a beat.

When we're together
Everything falls into place
Where it belongs.

You're in my dreams
Haunting me every night
With your memory.

I can't say it enough
I love you
And always will.

Love Would Be You

If love were a smell
That smell would be
Wood smoke and sweat.

If love were a sound
That sound would be
Soft whispers and laughter.

If love were a taste
That taste would be
Fleeting kisses and fruit.

If love were a sight
That sight would be
Flashes of lightning and grins.

If love were a contact
That contact would be
Gentle hugs and pokes.

If love were a person
That person would be
You.

Thankful For You

I'm thankful for friends,
And I'm thankful for phones.
I'm thankful for books,
And for ice cream cones.

I'm thankful for the sun,
And the stars that shine at night.
I'm thankful for bunnies,
And the pale moonlight.

I'm thankful for family,
And I'm thankful for food.
But most of all,
I'm thankful for you.

Broken Dreams

She stared at the mirror
Her reflection stared back
Its eyes were red from crying
The skin ghostly pale
Her eyes were dark
And held such sadness
It was like looking at her dreams
Die before they could take root.

Such a desolate soul
The world has never seen
A bright, talented child
Nobody will ever know
As a writer, singer, dancer
She was told she could go far
All she ever wanted
Was away from the pain of this world.

Her dreams of being famous
Changing people's lives
Were all in her imagination
Unimportant and unrealistic
Looking into that mirror
She saw a sad little girl
But in the blink of an eye
The whole world was her's.

Your Words

"I'm never gonna hurt you
I'm promising you that"
Don't you understand
You're already hurting me
I'm bleeding to death
You just don't see it
I try to give hints
But you don't understand
"Because I will always
Be there for you"
That's a lie too
I don't see you now
Where are you
When I need you most
You don't even try
To be there for me
"And to me are you
The most beautiful thing"
So once I was
Beautiful, but not now
Now you can't even
Stand to look at me
Do you really
Hate me that much

A Helping Hand

Life is but
a grain of sand.
A drop of dew
till you've lent a hand.
For if you help
a soul in need.
You will find life
is special indeed.

Your Cell

A cell.
Dark and cold.
The silence.
Pressing in.
Hurting your ears.
The walls.
Close in.
Smaller.
And smaller.
The room shrinks.
Fear grips your heart.
Driving you mad.
You scream.
But there is no sound.
You cry.
But there are no tears.
You pray.
But God does not hear.
You wait.
In silence.
For your doom.
Your fate.

Everywhere

White-
a blanket of snow.
Glittering-
the icicles in the trees.
Bitter-
cold air blowing.
Fresh-
the smell on the air.
Happiness-
the feeling inside you.
God-
is everywhere.

Red, Black, Silver, Gold

Red was the blood
that He lost
to save us from Sin.
Black was the sky
at the time of His death
up on that cross.
Silver was the tear
that Mary shed
the day her son died.
But gold is the crown
upon His head
where He reigns on high.

Dark Winter

The darkness of Winter
creeps through the land.
The beautiful rose
turns to dust.
The leaves on the tree
fall and die.
Birds take off
and fly away.
Taking with them
their songs of joy.
The lake freezes over.
The animals hibernate.
The darkness of Winter
is here again.

Real Pain

Pain is not breaking your arm
or getting a tooth pulled.
Pain is not falling from a tree
or a blister on your toe.
Pain is watching your parents fight
day and night.
Pain is seeing your brother hit your mom
and bite your dad.
Pain is making a friend
and never hearing from them again.
Pain is losing one of the few things
that has ever brought you true joy.
Pain is your friend
turning their back on you.
Pain is not the physical hurt
that goes away and you forget.
Pain is forever
and it changes your life.

Bone-Chilling Fear

Your heart stops,
it's blood runs cold.
Your eyes widen,
but you see nothing.
Your limbs become heavy,
you cannot move.
Hysterical laughter,
fills your head.
Bone-chilling fear,
takes over your body.

A Tear Falling

One soul
ignored by all
lost in a sea of despair.
A bright smile
to hide the pain
nobody to care.
One look
a silent plea
to save her from this life.
A tear
falling in the dark
filled with sorrow and strife.

First Snowfall

Gazing out the window,
watching the snow fall to the ground.
White flakes falling,
against red bricks.
A think blanket of snow,
laying on the roof.
Dead leaves,
flutter in the wind.
A sigh escapes your lips,
you long to be out there.
To be free,
and without worry.
Lost in a world,
all of your own.

Longing For Freedom

The window to the outside
draws my attention.
Gray clouds cover the sky
suffocating us below.
Two birds fly past
in opposite directions.
To be out there
would mean to be free.
Why am I stuck
in this stuffy classroom?
