The Darkness Inside

It hurts, itโ€™s dark, itโ€™s cold

There is nothing but darkness inside

So black, there is nothing left

A galaxy without its stars

Inside is nothing

Itโ€™s been that way forever

Nothing but blackness inside

Nothing, no emotion

No happy days

Just memories of dark without light

My monsters, they scare me

With black light in them

The person that sees

Says that I am

Burning with black fire

That never goes out

I cannot turn back

Or fight my way through

A sinkhole of dark

A black hole in the sky

No moon, no sun

No light of any kind

My demons, theyโ€™re there

Haunting me

I canโ€™t escape

Or run from them

The darkness inside is a scary thing

Thereโ€™s nothing there except black light

But one day

That changed

I wasnโ€™t alone

A man stood before me

With light that glowed too bright

For me and my monsters

My demons too

They all burned away while I shed my pain

Into the light

With shadows of dark

I cannot remember the last time

That I saw a sun so bright

He said that nobody could cure me

Except myself because it was inside me

He said that my light showed to him

Surrounded by others and to the brim

Of light brighter than the black flame

That the man who sees had saw

And he said that all i had to do

Was take his hand into the world

He said that all light have a shadow

And too long had I been there

I had no hope

But I could believe

The shadows in me burned away

With the bright light that he shone on me

One by one

The stars came back

A galaxy full

Of laughter and light

No longer filled with the darkness inside

A Person's Darkness

A person can live with the darkness inside

So dark, you feel like you're going to cry

But there is always another way

For you to live with the darkness inside

A person can be dark

A person can be bright

There's always a darker side

Everybody has a shadow

Not everyone is within

But those who stand in that shadow

Know that there is another place

They've lost their hope

They've lost their dreams

No more do they stand tall

But instead hide from the world around

In pain, suffering, and sad as can be

There are those that shrink from life

And there are those who yearn for life

Some willingly accept the shadow, to live

Some fight the dark, to live on in the light

But all people have

That darkness inside

If you are afraid of the darkness

Then it is your own soul that you are afraid of

A Blank Page

I wish to be a blank page again,

Clear of any writing,

But Iโ€™ve already experienced too much,

To just be a blank page, void of feelings.

I wish I could change my name,

Or be reborn again.

I wish I could go back in time,

But nothing can change.

I wish I had wings,

So I could fly into the sun and burn.

I wish I had a tail,

So I could swim to the bottom of the ocean and build myself a new life.

I wish I hadnโ€™t been born this way.

I wish, I wish,

I hope, I hope,

I hope that I can be a blank page again.

 Freedom's Silver Wings

A tale tells of silver wings,

that are there for those who need it,

and those that get those silver wings,

have freedom forever.

As I floated through the trees,

my feet didnโ€™t touch the ground,

my body felt lighter than a breeze.

I never knew what freedom was,

till I grew a pair of wings,

silver wings that shined with paz. (peace)

A song that carried my emotions through the air,

on silver wings that sparkled with moonlight,

banning all my nightmares.

I ran, and my wings flew with grace,

sending me to the sky on silver wings that never tired,

sending me back to my birthplace.

As I soar, I yell of my freedom,

telling the world of me

and my silver wings.

Now those silver wings carry me,

through the atmosphere and beyond,

for my freedom will stretch forever.

I soar through the sky,

seeing the animals frolic,

and the children play.

I watch as the people talk,

and laugh through sadness,

keeping their emotions from the world.

I sing of the nature,

of the ocean, of the sky,

of the little animals and creatures.

I sing of the saplings,

and the flowers,

and the fish and the birds.

I sing of music,

laughter and freedom,

And of my silver wings.

My silver wings that carried me to the clouds,

that gave me freedom,

that let me see the wonders of the world.

Now freedomโ€™s silver wings will rest,

underneath the starry sky,

dreaming of a new day.

When a new day comes,

those silver wings rise again,

and glide on the wind of spring.

They carry me through the gales of winter,

and the rains of summer.

They carry me to the beautiful autumn forest.

Year after year, day after day,

those silver wings rise with the golden sun,

and sleep with the silver moon.

They fly me to the blue waters,

and the green forests of the mountains.

I watch as the years pass,

and my wings slowly fade.

But never will I forget,

the memories I made.

No longer will I fly,

freedomโ€™s silver wings are gone now,

but I still have my freedom.

No longer will I sing,

for I will be with the earth,

with a memory of silver wings.

No longer will I laugh,

for the sorrow of my passing

will leave those silver wings behind.

Those wings gave me happiness,

and they gave me a purpose.

I thought the wish I had was to reach that star,

but the sky was too forbidding,

and you helped me pass it.

I never got to say the most important thing,

so hopefully in the next life,

I can say โ€œThank youโ€ with a smile.

The Phoenix Arising

The phoenix is a flash of flame

A ray of hope

The last sunset as it disappears, fading

As it becomes the bird of night

The bird of night flies through the stars

The companion to the moon

A shooting star

The ray of darkness

Then when the moon sets

The Phoenix arises

The flame of hope reigniting

Erasing the demons that rise from the earth in the darkness

The bird of hope

A symbol of hope

The one to vanquish the bird of night and it's demons

The Phoenix arising

Someday

Somewhere a flute is playing the songs of nature,

and a bird is chirping to its young,

and a fish swims free.

I play the flute, and hear the birds,

and watch the fish.

I am nature,

the mother of this earth.

If you listen closely you can hear me,

as I sing and play in my own world,

not too far away.

Elves and fairies dance to my tune,

and cheerily laugh with sprites.

Animals frolic among the trees,

and the ocean creatures swim.

I sing to the earth,

nurture its tune,

listen to the melody.

I hope one day, someday the humans will understand,

that this place is too precious to destroy.

Hope

If Hope was a color,

it would be golden.

If Hope was light,

it should surely be a ray of sunlight.

If Hope was a living creature,

it would be an eagle, soaring through the sky.

If Hope was a person,

that person would be kind and good and helpful.

If Hope was a book,

it would be written with all the good things in the world.

If Hope was a room,

it wouldnโ€™t be a prison.

If Hope was a medal,

it would be impossible to earn it.

If Hope was a place,

it would be Heaven.

If Hope was a font,

it would be the handwriting of everybody.

If Hope was a human girl,

that girl would be a beautiful princess.

If Hope was a human boy,

that boy would be a handsome prince.

If Hope was a fire,

it would burn brighter than the sun.

If Hope was water,

it would be an ocean and flood the Earth.

If Hope was an object,

it would be the one that would be used most.

If Hope was an emotion,

it would be the purest of all.
