One is to thank God
The other the light of the world

Both have special meaning
To the ones that observe
Different ways of believing
The one God of the universe

Holidays are meant for friends and family
To give thanks as we gather around
To tell of the love
In the God that we have found

We are blessed to do this
In this land that we live
Freedom of religion
This nation always gives

So enjoy all the holidays
That we Americans celebrate
Let’s never lose sight
That it is God that made us great

Hope my heart doesn’t remember

How did our love turn into this tear?
Being together all these years
My heart has become a volcanic eruption
My souls is burning from love interrupted

I hope my heart doesn’t remember you
I hope my heart and you are through
I hope my heart forgets the past
And the future that I had planned
Hour by hour, day by day
I hope my heart forgets yesterday

Your picture will always be in my mind
I hope it’s a place my heart can’t find
May my heart forget our memories?
And the way it felt when you touched me

I thought our hearts were connected
Now they are in the past forever

How Do We Turn Away

What do we do?
When we turn on the TV
And they ask for money
To feed the kids
How do so many rationalize
Not acting on what they feel inside
Don’t those scenes tug at your heart?
Do you turn never take part?

You and I can give humanity a lift
By giving just a little bit
Don’t let your conscience close the door
To the ones that need you more
How can a heart turn away?
Leaving them to their own fate
How does ones heart turn to stone?
When people suffer all over the world

How can we let our minds forget?
All the people the world neglects
Can a loving spirit survive?
When we look through blind eyes
Why do we clutch onto material things
That we can’t take to the other side
Only if we show love to humanity
Will it stay with us through eternity?

I Make No Resolution

I make no resolutions
I can't keep them anyway
Most people make them
At the coming of New Years day

We think that we're sincere
When we have a drink or two
Even if we remember it
Very few follow through

So I will never make resolutions
That are delusional in my mind
I will be happy being me
And make good on my borrowed time

But I will make a promise
And keep it for all it's worth
That defines my character
How i am viewed here on this earth

If i make a promise
It always has more sway
I may break resolutions
But a promise, no way

So start making promises
They always have more bite
When it's made to someone else
To break it takes more might

I Only Love One Noun

Love a word too often thrown around
For appreciation of many nouns
Some say they love
That brand new car
I hear people say
They love the movie they saw

Some love the clothes
They have on their backs
Some love their houses
With all the bills attached

That's not the noun
I put the word love to
That little word
Is for only a few

Love is for the people
Those are around me
It's for my wife and sons
And my little grand kids

It’s for my friends
That I have a special bond
It's for my family
From where I have come

When I say I love someone
I give all my heart
So keep this word special
Quit throwing it around


If They Have Nothing to Give


So many sad hearts
In far away places
So much despair
In all the children faces

They can't see any hope
On their horizon
Their future is nothing
Because nobody cares

What will it take?
Till their pain reaches our soul
When will our heart ache?
For the blood on their soil
Nobody cares
For those who have nothing to give
No love for them
In the different world they live
They only fight
For what they get out of the ground
They only help
When the world makes a sound

Why do some people
Get left all alone
Their lives are mistreated
As the world looks on

They have nothing to give
But all life has meaning
We must break down the wall
And help all we can
If they have nothing to give
We can give them a friend
If they have a future
Their lives will make sense

Insurance

I have insurance for my house
I have it for my car
Can I buy it for my heart?
Before I give your love a try

Insurance for my appliances
Even for my TV
Can I protect my heart?
Before it’s you and me

I have insurance for my life
For the things I treasure the most
I need assurance of your love
That always will be first

Knife of Blood

You asked me to do the final deed
Because the prayers said it should be
I've been a member all my life

Life’s reality

Our lives are a reality we have to endure
Whether you’re rich whether you’re poor
For some the reality is in their dreams
Living a fantasy in what they see

Reality for some is living in a car
Some escape to their local bar
The reality is that there is war all around
Too many violent people in all of our towns

Reality is starving children in every land
People forgetting what they cannot see
Reality is not a great place for some
Going through life as though they were numb

Reality can and is a frighten thought
Many escape in illusions at a cost
Far too many people reality is a life of torment
If life agrees with you, you are fortunate

Reality is and will be here and now
Our reality is our life enjoy it somehow
Reality for some is to know Heaven waits
Ending the misery that many contemplate

LOVE STARTED IT ALL

Love started it all
It was His master plan
Than He gave it to us
Because everything begins and ends with His love
Love God's most important seed
His love every living thing needs
He made me to love Him
And to spread His love around
Because He begins and ends with love
His love put the stars in space
His love put a smile on my face
His love made the oceans that wide
And made the mountains that high
His love makes the universe grow
His love is all I need to know

Mothers love

My life giver has left this world
Yes my mother who will fill the void
Before a thought to my loving birth
She will always be my Mother Earth

Watering me with love to help me grow
Teaching me God’s love that today I know
She made all things possible in her eyes
God’s love to her love helps me survive

Her gentile voice her gentile smile
Those things I’ll miss till my final hour
Even in her ending days
She was a sweet as always

She was my beginning now the link is broken
Again we will connect in our Heavenly reunion
Another generation is coming fast

Something they can have in the future

When I came into this life
