It was like any other day for Marley Jones, sitting at her desk typing her article on Mandy Moore’s performance at the stadium in Philadelphia. Her fingers were typing fast and she kept her eyes on the screen. She pushes her reading glasses up at the arch of her noise and she sighs in relief. She printed her article and puts it in a folder. She rushes down, passing the other desks with the folder by her side and then she enters into an office that had the name Daniel Gibson was printed in big, black letters on the door. Marley dropped her article on her bosses desk. “I’m all done.” She says in excitement.
“Okay.” He says looking down.
“That’s it? Okay? You even gonna look at it?” She says to him in a whiney tone.
“I will, I do have a new article for you to do.” He says to her as he looks up.
“Oh.” she didn’t sound grateful.
“Do you want to be paid dammit?” he says in irritation.
“Yes sir, I would.” she says pretending to look happy.
“Okay, wipe that fake smile off your face.” He hands her a folder, she opes it and looks through it. “I want you to write and article on that guy.” he says to her.
“Anthony Stripes? Local musician, I’m guessing.”
“Ya’ know the guy?” her boss said with the Boston accent.
“Not personally, but I’ve heard of him, around town anyways.” She says closing the folder.
“He’s gonna be preforming at the Cloverdilly tonight around 7 o’clock.”
“Okay, thanks boss.” She starts walking off.
“You got until Monday!” he yells from his office.
Marley was at lunch with two of her friends. Sam was shorter than the both of them but she had a good physique, she had dark brown hair, hazel eyes and was wearing a gray t-shirt, blue jeans and a gray hoodie with a skull on the back. Charlie was taller than both of them and she had burgundy colored hair that was up in a high ponytail, and she also had hazel eyes and she wore a purple blouse, black slacks and a black vest. They were at their favorite restaurant, Varalli Restaurant. Sam was eating a chicken Alfredo, Charlie was eating a Cesar salad with zesty Italian dressing, and Marley had soup with bread sticks. “How can you stand eating carbs like that?” Charlie says to Marley and Sam as they look at her with questioned looks.
“When did you start losing weight?” Sam says.
“Since I got a new boyfriend.” Charlie looks at her salad and had a sad look on her face as she sighed.
“I can see that, your rib cage is showing.” Sam pokes at her ribs.
“I can’t sleep, eat, I’m falling behind in work.”
“Break-up with him, he’s a distraction dammit.” Marley says to her and Charlie looks at her.
“I’ve been thinking about that for the past week. It just hasn’t escaped my lips yet.”
“How about this? We have a girls night tonight. There’s a performance going on tonight at 7 o’clock at the Cloverdilly, I got to write this article on an Anthony Stripes, a local musician.” Marley says.
“Anthony Stripes?” They both said and at me with an ‘aw’ look.
“What?”
“He’s a good local musician.” Sam says.
“He’s got an accent to die for.” Charlie said.
“A ten out of ten ass.”
“Blue eyes that make you melt inside.”
“Irresistibly hot.”
“The perfect man.” They both daydream about him.
“Welcome back to earth, girls. I got to actually talk to him for questions for my article.”
“What’s the whole point of girls night if your working?” Sam yells out.
“We are still gonna have fun for the first part of the night. I just got to do a Lil’ work after, just twenty minutes with him and then we will be sipping martinis at the greatest jazz club after.” Marley raises her wine glass and so did Sam and Charlie and their glasses clanged together.
Marley met Sam and Charlie at the Cloverdilly pub. Sam was sporting a black skirt with gray leggings and a gray blouse, her hair was up in a tight bun. Charlie was wearing a red, summer dress with her burgundy hair was down and she wore black headband. Marley wore a good pair of dark blue jeans with a white blouse and a black leather jacket with her up in a short ponytail with her bangs over eyes.
Sam hands Marley a beer and she sit with Sam and Charlie. Marley sits on a stool with her back against the counter drinking her beer in sips, looking for Mr. Handsome or Anthony Stripes. Her eyes wander around the stage. She turns around facing the bartender. She could hear Sam and Charlie talking to a couple of guys on he other side of them. Some guy sat next to her, she looks over to him and she recognized him. He had dark brown that was kind of messy looking, he had baby blue eyes, and this charm to him. Sam and Charlie were right, he is irresistibly hot! Marley stairs a the man before. He was drinking beer from the tap. She clears her throat and opened her mouth. “Excuse me?” she says kindly facing him. He turns his head to her and Marley was hypnotized in his eyes.
“May I help you miss?” he said in this thick Scottish accent.
“Oh, sorry. Are you Anthony Stripes?” she says.
“Who wants to know?” he says again.
“Marley Jones from Philadelphia newspaper, I run the music section of the newspaper and I was wandering if I could...........”
“Not interested darling.” He walks off with his tap still in his hand. Marley just sat there in shock that someone didn’t want to make it in the newspaper. Her dreams got crushed and she turns to Charlie while she was talking to Sam. “Charlie...... Sam?” She whispers to them. They both turned to her and Marley takes a drink of her bottled beer.
“What?” Sam says to her.
“Guess who I just met?” Marley says glumly.
“Ashton Kutcher?” Charlie says jokingly.
“Nope......Anthony.........Stripes.” She says taking another drink of her beer.
“Oh!” Sam and Charlie both said in unison, interested.
“No! Not oh! Asshole is the word I’m looking for. That son-of-a-bitch blew me off!” Sam and Charlie stared at her with shocked faces.
Marley was looking at her beer an she looks up at the stage. She sees the handsome, Anthony Stripes, on stage. He sat behind the piano and pulls the microphone near his pale face. "Good evening everyone, im Anthony Stripes, and im going to start tonight off with sort of a slow song." Anthony says with his sexy Scottish accent. She stairs at him, as he starts playing the piano. He started singing a song that sounded so familiar to Marley.
Love Me Tender
Love me tender, love me sweet
Never let me go
You have made my life complete
And I love you so
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling I love you
And I always will.
Love me tender, love me dear
Tell me you are mine
I'll be yours through all the years
'Till the end of time
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling I love you
And I always will
Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfill
For, my darling I love you
And I always will, Always will
She heard his beautiful singing voice go through her ears for a couple more songs he sang, sounding of an angel to her. She was hypnotized by him again. Sam appears next to her and shakes her hand in front of her face and Marley woke up from her trance. “What?” she says to Sam.
“You okay?” Sam asks her. Anthony was walking off the stage.
“Yeah. I’ll be right back.” Marley walks off, her vision was focused on Anthony. She walked right up behind and tapped him on the shoulder. He turns around and rolls his eye at her. “Just twenty minutes, please?” she begged him.
“No!” He said aloud at her.
“Please don’t make me get on my hands and knees and beg.”
“Now we wouldn’t want that, would we?” he says to her sarcastically.
“Ten minutes and a beer on me?” she asks him. She stroke his interest.
“Fine, ten minute and ten minutes only.”
“Thank you.” They walk over to the counter.
“I need two beers on tap, man?” Anthony says to the bartender.
“Oh, I won’t need anything to drink, I’m fine.” she says back at the bartender.
“Yes you will darling, and get us some whisky as well.”
“Your trying to get me drunk, aren’t you?” she says presistanty.
“Yes, yes I am.” he gave an evil smirk at her. She rolled her eyes.
