PROLOGUE

In a time past, in a land full of adventure and danger the Persian Empire stood. For almost a millennium they reined over eighty percent of the civilized world. With strength and wisdom they ruled. Becoming the worlds strongest empire known and yet, this mighty world power fell;it failed. Sure we have fought our wars with countries that used to belong to Persia, but we didnt fight Persia herself. No.. those wars were just minor distractions compared to the storm coming. Now just when we think we are on the path to peace Persia has risen up from the ashes to defeat us. Will we be defeated? Will we fall as well? Are any of use willing to let go of those we love to die in a war with no end in sight? Ha, I may just be sixteen, but I know when a war is just on the horizon and I'm willing it to come so that all this tension building up wil lift. So we can breathe; Becuase we train and prepare for a war we anticipate won't wait but come with the rising sun.

1.PRISONER

Underneath me the ground shakes and my ears ring from the sound of death. Ailey is on the ground her hands and knees bleeding. Jake just stands there in front of us, tears streaming down his upturned face as we watch our parents die. From somewhere a haunting scream echoes through the night and it takes me a second to realize that, that scream of terror; is coming from me..

.........Hugh, jolted awake I struggle to fight the same fears that always grip me after a nightmare. The same dreaded nightmares that haunt me everytime I close my eyes. And it's all becuase of this damned war. Yep, thats right I just said damn! I also have alot more to say about this dingy cell and the iron cuffs that have me hanging from it's concrete ceiling, but i'll keep those wonderful thoughts to myself for the moment and introduce myself in the meantime. For starters my name is Trin and i'm a Persian prisoner in what other not-so-lucky captives like myself are calling the third world war. The number that has replaced my name is 72012. I am a high control captive becuase of the knowledge that I apparently know even though I haven't been able to give them the information they want after all the months of hell i've been through. So now I just sit here with the occasional visit of a guard with something to eat and the keys to let me walk down the hallway just outside my door to the prison facilities. If you could call them that? As far as beauty I know I don't lack it, but that doesn't mean i'm the prettiest thing around. I have black hair that is now down to my waist, blue eyes that like to change with my moods and ears that are unnaturally pointy. When I was captured I left behind my bright eyed younger sister named Ailey who would have just turned fifteen about a week ago and an older brother named Jake who is going to turn eighteen in a month or two. How I know the time of day and year it is in this cell when I haven't seen the daylight in what seems like forever amazes me, but I could just be relying on memories and making the whole birthday thing up in my head. Maybe i am going crazy..... Oh well at least there is one thing I can count on and that's the fact that if I get even the slightest chance to make a break for it there will definiatly be hell to pay for the torcher I have gone through. Now let me stop musing over revenge and explain how my misfortunate soul ended up here.

Let the sob story begin....

The attack on the United States had come early the previous month. It was a dark, cold night when the first bomb struck U.S. soil and that first bomb, shook fear into so many through out the country. People took cover, stock piled on any food they could find. Prices soared through the roof as taxes were raised to pay for the price of war. There wasn't an orderly fashion to things then. No filled lines to bomb shelters. No..... Chaos ruled and laughed as she heard the screams of the dead and the dying.
