“No! I refuse to marry, my dear sister. Why do you not do it yourself and marry a powerful lord from another kingdom and bid him to stay here so you may be the duchess of our dear Mordivale? Tis alright with me for you to be the ruler.I have no interest to take the throne and this is my final say.Now I shall go to where my men have gathered and drink some ale with them,” Lucian de Vere said.”You must have lose your wits, Luc.Our beloved parents told us that you have to be the ruler of our kingdom. And you have no say in this matter anyway so we shan’t discuss this anymore.I have already chosen a bride for you.She is a countess and is fair of face. She has a sister who is said to be the most beatiful than Aphrodite and has a pure and kind heart.Unfortunately, the lass fled and has been missing for months now.Her reason for disappearing was she could not take politics anymore according to the letter she had sent days afer her disappearance. She was just like you.Anyway, you will be marrying the elder sister so you best forget about her and think of your bride-to-be.She is Lady Marie Louise Constantine. There is a rumor that she is a bit of a shrew but no matter.I’m sure you’ll shape her up after a few years in your marriage. Her parents gave me a small portrait of her. Here, take it with you when you while you get drunk with your men.Now off you go”Caroline de Vere watched her younger sibling descend the stairs with a look of defeat in his face. She sighed. If she could just find the younger sister she was sure her brother would be eagerly married.
Lucian went to his secret cabin in the forest bringing the portrait with him.He needed to think clearly. His needsto get drunk was forgotten at once because of his sister. What the hell was his sister thinking?!Marrying him off against his wishes.Marrying him off to an unknown lass he has not met even for once.He examined the portait of the Lady-Mary-Luse-Constin-or-something.She was a bit beautiful he guessed. She had raven black hair and blue eyes or were they gray? She wasn’t his type and his sister knew that. Then a horrifying shriek brought him back to reality. It was coming deep inside the woods.Lucian never ventured there for fear of the fae he did not wish to anger. He had never seen them but it was better safe than sorry. But what if it was a human in need of help and not a fae luring him in? Lucian’s conscience told him help the terrified human who was shrieking for his/her life.So he ran.”I should have worn my ring made of iron,”he muttered to himself. (It is said that the fae can be hurt by iron)
Angelique’s throat hurt. She was supposed to collect water from the stream but had instead fallen off a cliff of average height before she had even quelched her thirst. She had twisted her ankle and she was sure no one would rescue her.She could not call for help anymore fo her throat hurted like hell and is he could she was sure no one would come in fear of venturing in fae land. She sighed. If her sister could have seen her now she knew she would have been laughed at.”Lady, are you hurt? I’ll be down there in real quick so do not move! ,”a male voice from above said. Was it help coming for her? She stopped breathing.Or perhaps he was a bandit or a slave seller? She wasn’t sure so she filled her palm with small rocks in case the man was dangerous. The stranger came unto her view. The man was dangerous.Dangerously handsome and her heart was in danger.
Lucian stared at the lady he was supposed to save.He knew it was rude to stare but he could not help himself. Her beauty was ethereal. She had long golden blonde hair and a french braid that looked like a tiara on her.She had long eyelashes and her skin was white as the milk he used to drink and smooth as the porcelains his sister loved to collect. Her dress was not of the latest season but seemed to fit her perfectly. It was also cut dangerously know and he knew he really hat to stop staring. He focused on her face instead. Her face would put Aphrodite to shame as his sister would call it and he knew he had found the other sister.”Please excuse me, m’lady”Lucian whispered to her.He scooped her up in his arms as he had seen his married male friends to their wives. She was light and he was terrified that she was too fragile for him to hold and he might break her as though she a piece of glass.”M’lady, what is your name? ,” he asked.”Angelique,”she answered. Her voice was so soft he feared it was only his imagination that she had said her name.”Where do you live, Lady Angelique? I can tell my men to take you there safely”He inhaled the scent of her.She smelled of flowers and of the forest and he liked it.”I have fled from my house so I do not wish for you to bring me there. But I have found a cabin in this forest which I have made my sleeping quarters every night. Please take me there,”his damsel in distress said.”The one near the shrubs of berry?”He raised one eyebrow. She looked up him and nodded.”That is my cabin, m’lady but you can use it as long as you wish.I shall collect some medicinal herbs for your ankle while you rest.Do you also wish for some water to drink, m’lady?”He noticed she kept touching her throat and looked very much troubled.”Oh thank you, kind sir and yes I do wish to drink.May I know your name?”She was smiling now and Lucian began to smile too.He kicked open the door of the cabin and set her to lie down on his bed.”I am Lucian, my beautiful angel,”he whispered. The lass blushed and Lucian smiled upon seeing it.”May I call you 'Angel'? ,”he asked.Angelique’s cheeks were getting hotter by the minute and she did not want Lucian to see her blushing so she turned her head away and just nodded.”I will be back at once”Then he headed out deep in the woods.
Caroline de Vere, Lucian’s sister, noticed Lucian always slipping out in to the woods. When she tells him to stop going there he’s think up ridiculous reasons like he wanted to take care of a plant he very much liked and she would not be able to stop him.So one rainy afternoo, Caroline followed her brother venture in the woods once again. She was very much soaking wet and hair looked like a tangle of snakes but she wished to know the mystery of her brother’s odd behavior. She watched him enter the cabin then she knocked on the wooden door.”Let me in, Lucian! ,”she shouted. The rain was getting stronger. Her brother welcomed her in reluctanly and she laid eyes on the most beatiful girl she had ever seen.”Countess Marie Angelique Constantine! ,”she exclaimed. The two explained that they had fallen in love with each other and planned to live in another kingdom where no one would recognize them.”You can always marry here and live as duke and duchess.I cannot fathom the problem”Caroline furrowed her eyebrows.”Her sister has almost killed her numerous times.Pushing her off their terrace, burning her bedroom the point is her sister might try to kill her again- “Fool,”his sister muttered.”I could not bear to hold my tounge any longer because of your nonsense babbling. Are you saying you are not man enough to protect her with your life?Fine!Scurry away like rats, my dear brother and I shall be the ruler”Lucian smiled.”Let us tell her family that we have found her and I wish to marry her”
“You wish to cancel our wedding and marry my younger sister instead?!How dare you?!You foolish duke!”They were gathered back in Lucian’s castle in the royal dining area.”I will be the duchess of Mordivale!! ,”she screamed in fury. She then began to throw plates at Lucian.Lucian called his soldiers.”Take this shrew away and make sure she never set foot in here or near here”
The day before the wedding, the family of Angelique had a celebration in their manor.”My dear little sister please have this apple pie.I have not the money nor the time to buy you your wedding gift so please accept this,”Marie Louise said to her younger sister.Angelique was so happy she did not even think it the pie might be poisoned. It was the first time her elder sister had ever given her something so she thanked Marie Louise again and again. She brought the pie inside her bedroom and began to eat.She found out that the pie was very delicious…..and very deadly.
“I will be alright.I shall come to our wedding tomorrow. If you do not wait for me and marry my sister, I will try to kill you as long as you live. And if I truly die I want you to live and marry someone who is more beautiful than I. I do not wish for you to act out the story my foolish cousin William made.Do not marry my sister she is the incarnation of evil and she will be the end of you if you do not pay heed to what I am saying right now.,”whispered Angelique. She kissed Lucian then went to sleep.
“She is not coming! Let us now start the wedding and welcome me as your bride,”said Marie Louse. The Constantine family announced that Marie Angelique has died and they did not wish for anyone who was not family to go to her burial.”Then there shall be no wedding,”Lucian declared.
Several days later, a package was sent to Lucian. He had changed. He was becoming more like a devil because of his broken heart.Lucian opened it and was surprised that it contained berries. He threw it on the floor and ordered his servants to clean it up and said he had no time to play childish games.Every day the package would arrive carried by an old owl. Then Lucian remembered his cabin in the forest.Lucian ran eagerly to the forest. He ran and ran until he came upon his old cabin. He was so foolish. Why had he not remembered the cabin after the first package was sent?! She must have recovered from her poison already! He was out of breath when he kicked open the wooden door of his cabin. Then he smiled and whispered, “My Angel”
