Chapter One

Lily Markham was getting ready to go for a ride on her Harley when she heard a poof and feet pounding underneath her in her living room. She slowly went down the stairs and froze. There in her living room were eight Collectors.
"What are you doing here?" she asked harshly. Faeries didn't take kindly to Collectors.
"Lily Markham, Nymph Faerie of Ireland, you are being charged with the murder of a human and revealing magic to the human world. We are here to collect you." one said. Lily raised a brow in surprise.
"Murder? I would never. I rarely even associate with them. As to magic? No, I haven't showed any magic in any way, shape, or form. You told you these lies?" she said.
"Our sources are never wrong, Ms. Markham. Now, either go peacefully or make us do this the hard way." the Collector sighed. Lily straightened her spine and raised her chin.
"I didn't do anything so I'm not going anywhere." she said firmly. The Collector sighed.
"Then, I guess we're doing this the hard way." he said before they ran at her. She double kicked one of them in the face, taking two down with one hit. With the next two, she round house kicked them in the face. Three of them came at her at once. One of them got their nose punched into their brain, one got their eyes poked out, and the last one got his skull crushed. The last one ran at her. Lily didn't get out of the way fast enough and he tackled her. The surprise of it made her small fangs come out, but the backlash of it made her mouth land on his vulnerable neck. She bit down instinctively.Oh, boy,

she thought. Things just got a little bit more complicated.

Sam's P.O.V

They came to the faeries house with a goal in mind. They had a plan: Get in, get her, get out. Well, that didn't go the way they expected. They had expected her to put up a fight, sure, but no one had told them that she was one of those few faeries who had chosen to learn how to fight. And, God, she was good. But not good enough because Sam Scott, Former Collector, had been able to tackle her. What Sam didn't notice was the little fangs that had popped out of her gums, or he probably could have prevented the stinging sensation he got from his neck seconds after he tackled his target. He let out a small scream of pain and cursed. He felt on his neck and found his target's teeth had sunk into his skin. When she removed her teeth, she hissed. She tried to crawl out from underneath him, but that wasn't happening.
"Why did you just bite me?!" Sam half yelled.
"It's your fault for tackling me! Why couldn't you have punched me or kicked me? Ugh, if you would have did anything other than tackled me!" she complained.
"Why are you complaining? I'm the one who got bit, not you! Aren't Nymph bites poisonous or something?" he added. He vaguely remembered hearing something about a Nymph's bite being called a Nymph Bite. He just couldn't remember what happened when you got bit.
"When you get bit by a Nymph, it's called a Nymph Bite. That's means that the Nymph marking you as her own." the girl beneath him said sullenly.
"Why in Blazes' name would you mark me!" he yelled.
"You tackled me! My teeth came out because I was surprised. It's your fault." she mumbled. Sam got up and yanked her up by her arm.
"Why did you look so surprised when you found us here?" Sam asked softly. She looked up at him.
"You accused me of something I did not do. What do you think?" she scoffed.
"Wait. You're saying that you didn't murder that human?" he asked. She rolled her blue eyes.
"Well, yeah. I couldn't have killed him because I've been sick for the past month or so. The doctor made me stay in bed." she wrinkled her nose, and Sam noticed that there was a soft smattering of freckles on it.

Chapter Two

My name is Fire Smokestone, very ironic, but hey, itΓ’Β€β„’s my name. I have jet black, waist length hair, fire red eyes, and at this moment, running from fifteen cop cars. I accidentally got caught stealing a pair of jeans. But, I had a good reason. I need them. It's not like I have money to buy stuff whenever, you know? So, anyway, I turned into an alley, which turned out to be a dead end. I cursed when I heard the sirens getting closer. I looked around for another way, but found none.
"Pst." I heard."Psst! Look up!" a voice said. When I looked I saw a guy sticking out his window.
"Come on! Unless you want to get caught!" he said. I hesitated. I could barely see him roll his eyes. He threw a rope out the window. I took the chance as I heard cars screeching on the asphalt. I had just climbed into the window when feet made the broken glass and pebbles crunch beneath the window. I turned towards my savior.
"Thanks." I said to him, looking at him through my regular brown contacts. He nodded."Where is your front door?" I asked.
"Down that hallway." he pointed. I started walking towards the the door, but somehow ( note the sarcasm) I fell. I heard a crack and knew instantly that I had just broken my leg. Great, just great.
"Jeez, are you okay?" dude asked me, running to help me up.
"Does it look like I'm okay?" I almost growled.I could feel the heat rising in my throat, smoke filled my mouth. I quickly swallowed it and managed to calm down a bit.
"You don't have to be so rude." he mumbled. I grinned thinly.
"Well, excuse me for not being a ray of sunshine. I tend to get grouchy when injured." I said. Dude helped me onto the couch and elevated my leg on a pillow.
"I'll be back." he said. I closed my eyes and sighed. This is just my luck. Dude came running back in with some ace bandages. He gently ripped my jean leg open from the knee down. That was my last pair!
