So the rest of the evening we spend time together, getting to know each other. Also the following days we texted throughout the day. On my last day in M, we arranged another meeting, this time in a café. “So what do you do for a living?” he asked. “Well where should I start? It’s a bit complicated to explain.” “Just try.” “Well let’s say, if you have the flue and your family doctor is not there, like during the night or weekends, you call our number. Then according to the address you’re currently at, we can tell you which doctor is in charge and arrange a meeting with the doctor or a counsel over the phone.” I explained. “Sounds interesting. Compared to this my job is probably boring.” he laughed. “Well what do you do for a living?” I asked. “Well I’m basically just pushing papers.” he laughed and I joined him laughing. We really had a blast together. After coffee we decided to take a small walk. Since it had been cloudy all day, he was smart enough to take an umbrella along. Because I forgot mine at home and was too lazy to buy one I hoped it just wouldn’t rain. But luck was not on my side, or was it? We had been walking for quite a time when it started raining. As quickly as possible he opened his umbrella and held it over my head. “And you?” I asked and pulled him towards me so he wouldn’t get wet either, because his umbrella was big enough for two. Again we stood there just gazing at each other. After a few seconds I regained my consciousness and glanced down, blushing. So as we started walking again, he carefully put the arm around my shoulders and pulled me closer to him. I felt so comfortable with him, that I put my arm around his waist and leaned my head against his shoulder. “Too bad you live so far away.” he stated. “Yes. But we can still meet once in a while, if you want to give this relationship a chance.” I replied with a pounding heart. Suddenly he stopped walking and looked me straight in the eye. “Do you?” he asked. I nodded, blushing. “I feel comfortable around you and to be honest, just the thought of you gets my heart pounding.” I explained and started trembling. With a big smile he kissed my forehead and hugged me. “I meant it when I said that I would love to see you more often.” he whispered into my ear. “The second I saw you, you’ve got me under your spell.” he added.
I felt great joy. Everything that happened with C, was forgotten. Now I just was thankful that these things had happened the way they did, even if it was hurtful for some time. Who knows, if I hadn’t met C and would have had to take a vacation in M to get my mind off of him, maybe I wouldn’t have met S.
Finally the Happy Everafter?!The following days and weeks S and I texted almost every day. I also started to post some quotes and pictures about love over Whatsapp. I knew that everyone who was curious would look at these, including C. Once in a while I was still thinking about him, but not with anger or regret, but with fond memories and full of gratitude. One day I posted a picture with the following statement “Have you ever felt like you were holding your breath and just started breathing as you met your soulmate? At last I have found the one." It didn’t take long till C texted me. “Good luck with your “new one”.” I was surprised. Since he had apologized we haven’t texted again. But again my brain took a break. Why did he put the “new one” into quotation marks? “Don’t you believe me or don’t you want to believe it?” I responded. “I just wanted to wish you luck, hoping he won’t treat you as I did.” he explained. “Oh, ok. I just wondered because of your quotation marks.” I texted back. “Sorry. Just hope he treats you better and that you can forgive me.” he replied. Suddenly I felt sorry for him. “Actually, as weird as it sounds, I actually have to thank you. If I wouldn’t have been hurt by you and therefore haven’t made the trip to M to take my mind off of you, I probably never would have met him. So thank you.” I answered, but never got a reply. This was the last time we ever talked to each other again. S and I met at least once a month, either in M or in B. We both searched for a Job in the hometown of the other. S was the first who found a suitable job. So he moved down to B, where I lived. Finally we could meet whenever we wanted to. After about a year we got engaged and soon after that married. Now I finally got my Haapy Everafter!
