The halls were packed the next day. And as I guessed, there was one more sheet stuck in each pigeon hole.
I saw Denzel wading through the crowd, he had on his red cap and his favorite jacket. He wasn't looking at me, but I was sure he sensed my presence somehow.
"I hope your mother is okay, Rebecca." The same girls as always approached; the blonde and the Asian. βA guy knows a therapist, if you want I can have him book an appointment for him.β
βNo, thanks.β I didn't want to look at the sheets because I knew perfectly well what they were about. Reed was amazing, I told him I wouldn't hurt Denzel again and this is what he does.
I walked closer to Denzel, placing myself in front of him.
"I have tickets to the Conan Gray concert." I took the tickets out of my backpack and handed them to him. βI thought you wanted to go with me.β
βI don't need anything from you, Rebecca.β He answered in a bad mood.
βAt least I'm trying to get you to talk to me, Denzel.β I crossed my arms. βHe has one version and I have another. You should at least listen to me. Why the hell do you insist on not doing it? I have not finished.β
"Get him down, Rebecca." He arched his eyes. βJust get away from me.β
βThe thing is, I can't get away from you, Denzel Derricks.β I admitted βI love you, and there is nothing else in this world that can take that away from me.β I stood on my tiptoes and cupped her face in my hands. βAt least try to listen to what I'm trying to tell you.β
βI don't want to listen to you, Rebecca. Denzel started walking towar"ds room 101 and I went after him. Luckily, he was alone. βI want to be quiet, if you don't mind.β
He took a seat in his chair and turned on the laptop to continue working on the newspaper.
βI'm part of the newspaper. I took a seat in the next chair and turned on the computer. βYou can't take that right away from me.β he snorted.
"As you wish, but keep quiet."
βDo not shut me up.β I started typing anything. Come on, Denzel, you can't be ignoring me.
After a few minutes, Anne entered the room.
βGood morning guys.β
"Good morning, Anne," we said in unison. I looked at Denzel, but he looked away from my eyes as soon as he noticed the discomfort.
This boy is amazing.
βThe literature teacher had the mess cleaned up out there and asked you and Denzel to go to Smith's office.
He backed away in annoyance and got up at the same time I did.
βIn addition to being unfaithful, you take away my damn time.β I rolled my eyes and walked out with him.
The girls' eyes were wary. Now that he was "no longer hanging out" with Denzel Derricks, all of them would be like vultures after him.
"Wait a second, Denzel." He stopped very lightly.
βWhat?β
"I'm leaving school." Yes, it was for the best. His face changed expression. βI am no longer fit to be here.β
"So they harass you and you leave?" he snorted. βThat's the most absurd thing I've ever heard.β
"I'm just letting you know what I'm going to do," I clarified.
βYou can not go away.β He clung angrily.
"You're not my boyfriend anymore, Denzel, and it's clear you want me to stay away from you and I will."
"You already did shit to me, Rebecca." He took my arm. βDo not do this to me.β
"It's for the best, Denzel, Iβ¦"
"Miss Eyre." Smith leaned closer. βCome with me to the office, your sister is here. And, Mr. Derricks, wait here.β
Denzel gave me a concerned look, I followed the director into the office and found my sister sitting in one of the chairs.
βMom couldn't come, she had a meeting.β he commented.
βI called your sister about what happened this morning.β Mr. Smith looked worried. βI must ask you toβ¦β
βI will go.β I finally agreed. βThere is a publishing house in New York and I would like to work for a while and start the next semester there.β
βAre you sure about this, Rebecca?β My sister hesitated.
βYes. There is nothing stopping me here.β
Except Denzel Derricks.

Β
"You can't go, Rebecca." Denzel was waiting for me when I left the office. βYou said you weren't done.β
βI've just finished.β I continued walking towards my locker.
"No," he slammed me to a stop by pushing me against the lockers. He placed a hand next to my head and pressed his face to mine. His lips looked too good to kiss. βI'm not done, Rebecca.β
βDon't make this harder, Denzel.β
βIs something wrong here?β Joe approached. βIs he bothering you?β
"She's my girlfriend." Denzel turned to him. βI can talk to her whenever I feel like it, Mikaelson.β
βI'm not sure Rebecca is still your girlfriend.β
βIt's okay, Joe, we were just talking.β I crossed my arms.
Joe eyed us strangely, not quite sure, and left.
"I still love you, Denzel," I confessed. βI'm sorry for everything that happened.β
"That's not enough," he spoke. βYou can't go now.β
I know, I know I shouldn't run away...
βIf I don't, the person behind all this won't leave me alone. It has been a month in which everyone is against me. I can't stay here any longer, Denzel.β I left, although his presence did me too much good.

βYes Richard, I received the money. I heard my mother talking on the phone when I got home. βThank you for your concern, bye.β he hung up.
βSomething important?β My mother turned unconcerned.
"It was just Uncle Richard, he said he sent a benefit for the wedding."
I had to stop that wedding.
"I'm not sure those two love each other."
