"I'm joking Lanny, you have my charm, of course she'll accept you," Daniel said, probably grinning from his tone.
Evelyn opened her eyes and sat up, avoiding touching Lance who was close to her, "Or you have his charm," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes as everyone looked at her.
"See, at least someone sticks up for me," Lance said, about to put a arm around her but she shrunk back and he realized what he was about to do and his eyes went wide "Sorry,"
"It's fine," She mumbled "It's not your fault," she stood up and walked out of the room. As she was walking in the hallway a hand touched her arm and she felt vibrations but nothing else. "Hey Lilly," she mumbled, turning around to face her.
"Evelyn, drink this, I'll give you some every day, sometimes night, and eventually it will erase the ache, you'll be able to hear pain free," Lilly said, handing her a glass of green liquid like before and she drank it, handing it back to her with a smile and a small 'thank you' before Lilly shoved clothes in her arms "Change, you're a mess," and with a smile, Lilly went down to the living room.
Evelyn smiled and went to the bathroom, she changed clothes and brushed out her hair so it hung loose, splayed over her shoulders and it cascaded down her back in faint waves.
She walked down the stairs and saw people- mostly males with few girls who sat on their laps- on the couches. She walked slowly, her bare feet brushing lightly against the ground and she walked over, seeing a girl on Lance's lap and sat on the ground by Cory, she flashed a small smile when people looked at her from the football game that was going on.
After a while, she saw Lilly get off of Daniel and walk over to her, pulling Evelyn off the ground and dragging her into a room and she made sure nobody had followed and closed the door, saying a few strange words then turning to her.
"I'm so sorry, I-I t-think he gave up on you," Lilly whispered, her eyes filling with tears as she looked at Evelyn.
"It's fine," Evelyn mumbled, "He had every right to," her lips were in a straight line, she had even been thinking about accepting him, but the thought was erased from her mind at that information.
"I'm going to murder him after that little slut Brianna, every wolf in here can tell her body is half plastic, you can small the burnt smell of her new nose job!" Lilly snarled and Evelyn patted her shoulder and shook her head.
"It's fine, seriously, he didn't want me to be his mate in the first place, he just didn't want to die," She said and hugged Lilly before walking out the door and into the living room, not even noticing the tear that leaked out of the corner of her eye as she opened the front door quietly, feeling many pairs of eyes burning holes in her until she closed the door behind her, walking into the forest and towards her old home.
The forest was quiet and serene, she took a deep breath and began running, her hair billowing out behind her as she ran, it whipped around her face, at times blocking her vision but she didn't stop, even when her bare feet scraped against sticks.
When she reached her house, she climbed the balcony and walked down the stairs, seeing that people had been packing, she gasped, running to the garage and grabbing a screwdriver and screws. She walked to the door and screwed them in, making it almost impossible to open it, then remembered she had to change the locks. She found a old door knob and quickly changed it, running from in front of the door then through the garage door then back.
Once she was done, she did the same to the garage door but in a opposite order ad smiled at her good work.
She unpacked the things and locked the balcony door, closing the curtains before heading back to the kitchen. Evelyn pulled out a brownie mix and sighed, she loved to bake and it was the only thing she could do to get things off her mind. She sighed again, brushing a hand through her hair before she followed the instructions, forcing herself to forget about Lance for the moment at least.

Evelyn woke up in her room to banging on the balcony door, she slowly and quietly slipped out of bed, pulling a large shirt over her head since she only had a bra and shorts since it had been warm last night. The shirt reached her knees and it had been her dads, but she kept it anyway since it was nice to wear.
She tiptoed to the curtains, peeking through and she saw Cory and sighed, unlocking the door and ran a hand through her messy hair.
"What do you want?" She asked, her eyes squinting in the morning light.
"Oh king high and mighty has requested to see you, but it seems I cannot throw you over my shoulder so get out here and hurry up," Cory announced, holding a rolled piece of paper like a scroll.
"Don't you mean Alpha? And give me a second," Evelyn said, grabbing keys from under her pillow and stuffing it in her short's pocket. She walked back to him, locking the balcony door and jumping down, landing lightly on her feet and Cory followed.
"Run, faster," Cory said, making little motions with his hands and she rolled her eyes.
"Oh, sorry, I wouldn't want to keep 'Oh king Alpha high and mighty jerkiness waiting, now would I?" She asked in a sickly sweet voice.
"Do you want me to pick you up? Because I don't care, you'll be the one with the migraine," He said and her eyes went wide and she screamed, running into the forest and climbing up the tallest tree she could find before he reached her and rolled his eyes. "Come on, Squirrel, I can climb you know,"
"Fine you idiot, but payback's a bitch," Evelyn muttered, dropping to the ground and pushing him away with a hand on his chest when he ran at er to catch her. She landed with a small thud on her feet and stood straight "Do not ever try and catch me again, stupid mutt,"
"I thought Lance was the mutt and I was the one there weren't enough swear words for?" Cory said and she sighed.
"Seems like those places have changed, Lance is the asshole man-whore and you are the mutt, you should be happy," She said and began running in the forest, breaking into a full-out sprint as he followed, when they reached the house, she opened the door and walked in with Cory right behind her. "Why am I here?" she asked him and he shrugged.
"Oh Alpha high and mighty wanted you to come," Cory said, grinning slightly and she scowled at him.
"You mean Oh asshole high and mighty, and I am so going to kill him, or myself, whichever is quicker," Evelyn said and plopped down on the couch, pulling her legs up beside her and she saw Lilly come out of the kitchen with the green liquid and hand it to her.
"I heard you were coming, but for reasons unknown," She said, smiling at Evelyn as she drank the green liquid and handed the cup back and Lilly left to clean it.
"If that idiot isn't here soon, I'm going home and nobody's stopping me, no matter what," Evelyn said, looking at the clock that read 9:43 and glared at Cory who was sitting on the opposite couch, she pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs, watching as Cory turned on a TV show.
About fifteen minutes later, Lance still hadn't come and she stood up "I'm out, the asshole woke me up at nine for nothing," she said, crossing her arms and walking for the door, she opened it and saw a car pulling in the long drive way and almost cried when she saw Lance and Brianna get out.
"Oh, hey Evenly," Lance said, greeting her without saying her name correctly and a tear slipped down her cheek, "Wotcha doin' here?"
"Hey Oh Asshole high and mighty jerkiness," she greeted "And it's not what I'm doing here, it's what you were not doing here," then she turned on her heel and ran into the forest, not caring when her arm got scratched by a sharp stick, or when her feet started to ache from being bare. She couldn't believe him, he had told her he was her mate and she wasn't rejecting him anymore, he was rejecting her. She had been completely wrong about him, he was a jerk, a asshole, not a mutt, a hybrid. She still couldn't believe him as the trees got closer and she got deeper into the forest, her mind racing as she heard footsteps, but she didn't pay attention to anything but her thoughts.
As she was passing a tree, her foot caught in a root and she fell over, not bothering to get up, she just stared up at the bright sky, wondering what she had done wrong to deserve this kind of torture people called a life, she had lost her parents, her uncle, and almost her new house, but she didn't count Lance, he was never really hers.
Her mind was buzzing, her entire body stung as if someone had electrified her all over as she opened her eyes, she felt as if someone had lit a fire in her head, but no thoughts were there.
Evelyn sat up and sighed when she saw she was in Lance's room, she hard scrapes all over her and she saw that someone had cleaned them and put antibiotic on them.
Standing up from the bed, she walked to the door and opened it, there was someone in the hall, but it was one of the guys in the pack she didn't know. She walked by him, careful not to touch him, and into the kitchen where she saw Lilly and Ava, they were cooking what seemed to be a meal and included a salad, brownies, and spaghetti with a lot of sauce.
"Need any help?" Eve asked softly, smiling at them slightly as they turned there heads from their work to look at her.
"Yes, but Lance said he wanted
