shrugged.
“It’s okay.” He said walking away, and I looked at Rose.
“Oh my god you totally love the teacher.” She whispered and I rolled my eyes.
“No, I love Aaron. Mr. Favian is just a school girl crush, literally.” I whispered back, and she rolled her eyes.
“You are one lucky girl.” She joked, and I took out a piece of paper to start the assignment.
“Hey, so would you mind risking a bad rep by hanging out with me and my boyfriend sometime?” I asked Rose at the end of class.
“Yeah, I already have a bad rep so why not?” She joked as she gathered her stuff together.
“Cool, I’ll talk to you tomorrow then.” I said holding the door open for her to leave.
“Yeah, sounds good. Hey, where’s your bag?” She asked, and I tried not to grin as my plan took effect.
“Oh, crap I forgot it. Give me a sec.” I said running back into the class. “I forgot my bag.” I said to Adrian as I picked my bag up.
“Oh, it’s okay.” He said, and I grinned.
“Enjoy that apple.” I grabbed my bag, and walked out the door. The day went by quickly until about five o’clock when I was finishing my rounds before heading home.
“There she is.” Vanessa whispered to her friends as they looked over at me.
“Yeah, here I am.” I grumbled to myself.
“Hey boyfriend stealing slut.” I heard her childlike voice call out to me.
“What did you just call me?” I asked turning to her in what felt like slow motion.
“A boyfriend stealing slut.” She repeated.
“That’s what I thought you said. I don’t recommend that you call me that again unless you want your nose to shift a little to the right.” I said glaring at her.
“You won’t get a chance to lay a hand on me.” She said, and I saw her eyes start to glow.
“Are you threatening to take my free will? Because there’s a rule against that, and you can get your wings taken away permanently. Considering who I am, and how important I am to the future you can bet that you’d get in some serious trouble.” I said without thinking.
“You’re nothing but the future dean.” She said and I smirked.
“That’s what you think.” I said shaking my head as I turned around.
“Don’t turn your back to me, demon.” She said, and I turned around ready to defend myself when I saw Rose come out of nowhere.
“You had better back down right now Vanessa.” Rose said towering a good six inches above Vanessa. I saw her swallow, and she rolled her eyes before walking away.
“Whatever.”
“Thanks Rose. I’m used to that stuff by now though, so it wasn’t necessary.” I said and she shrugged in reply.
“That’s what friends do.” She said, and I smiled. “Besides Vanessa walks around with her head held high like she’s better than everyone else, and I’ve wanted a reason to put her in her place for a long time.” Rose added making me smile even bigger.
“Oh, Rose you and I are going to be great friends.” I said reaching up to put my arm around her shoulders, but she was probably eight inches taller than me in her heels.
“I certainly hope so because I heard about you calling her a charity case and a girl that thinks of that stuff on her toes has got to be my friend.” She said laughing.
“Well, thank you.” I said with a bow. “I’d love to stay and chat, but I have to go and get ready for a date.”
“Oh, have fun.” She said wriggling her eyebrows. “Well, not too much fun.”
I laughed walking towards my room anxiously as I cast a glance around hoping Adrian wasn’t anywhere nearby.

Chapter 6: A date for the history books

I dressed casual with a pretty V-neck top, my favorite skinny jeans, and a hoodie. I threw on lip gloss, and brushed through my hair deciding to leave it down. I grabbed my bag right as Aaron knocked on my door.
“Come on in angel.” I joked, and he opened the door with a smiled.
“Don’t mind if I do.” He said shutting the door behind him before wrapping his arms around me.
“Well, I think we should go to the park if that’s alright with you. Well, the trees by the lake anyways. I don’t know if it’s considered a pond.” I said starting to babble.
“I consider it a park.” He said with a shrug, and I opened the door peeping into the hallway before stepping into it.
“Alright let’s go.” I said grabbing his hand and pulling him out of my dorm. I grabbed his hand and jogged down the hall taking the back exit.
“What was that about?” He asked once we were outside, and I had slowed down.
“I didn’t think it’d be a good idea to get caught with a boy in my dorm.” I half lied.
“Okay.” He said slowly.
“Let’s go.” I said pulling him onto the path as I slipped my hand into his. We were walking when I saw Adrian talking to someone, and I yanked Aaron off the path and into the trees.
“Allie, what’s going on?” He asked, and I shushed him staying completely silent for a few minutes before we heard footsteps. I held my breath as Adrian passed by our hiding place without noticing us. I waited another minute, and pulled Aaron back onto the path.
“I just don’t want anyone seeing us, and telling my father anything. Besides at this time you’re supposed to be in the cafeteria areas or indoors anyway.”
“Have you talked to Elle lately?” He asked me catching me off guard.
“Not really, but why does that matter?” I asked him suspiciously, and he shrugged so I let it go. We walked to the lake, and sat down so he could lean his back against a tree. I laid down using his legs as a pillow so I could look up at the sky.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” He asked me and I nodded. “Well, not in comparison to you, but still.”
“Oh hush.” I said feeling my cheeks heat up.
“Allie, do you ever just want to leave?”
“What do you mean?”
“Being here sometimes feels like it’s a trap. I feel like I have to live up to everyone else’s expectations instead of my own. You probably don’t get it.” He whispered.
“No I do. It feels like you have to be perfect. You have to do what everyone else tells you to do instead of what you want to do. It feels like a cage. I long to leave it.”
“Why, you are perfect.”
“I’m not. You have no idea about some of the things that are going on with me right now. Its crazy how much can change within a week or two. I feel on the edge of falling all the time now. Like every move I make is being watched. That’s why I’d rather just not be seen by anyone. I don’t want any attention drawn to me. I just want to be normal.”
“Allie, what’s going on with you? Lately you are so different. So on edge like you said. Why, what’s going on that you haven’t told me?” He asked urgency in his voice.
“I can’t tell you. It’s a mess, I’m a disaster, and I shouldn’t have got you involved. I really hope it doesn’t mess things up for you.”
“I wouldn’t care if it did. Allie, I love you. I want to help you, but I can’t if you don’t let me. If you don’t trust me, what can I do?”
“Can you excuse me for a minute?” I asked spotting a suspicious looking bat.
“Um, yeah.”
“I’ll be right back.” I said standing up, and walking into an alley between the school buildings. “Adrian.” I called into the darkness.
“Yes?” I heard from behind me, and I turned to him startled.
“Why are you spying on me?” I asked him heading to the entrance of the alley where he was standing.
“I didn’t know what would happen if I wasn’t there to interrupt at the right second just in case.” He said leaving the sentence hanging in suspense.
“Just in case I told him the truth.” I finished for him. “You’re supposed to trust me. He trusts me blindly, and you’re supposed to love me. Yet you can’t trust me with a secret that if I told could ruin my life. Why can he trust me if you can’t?” I asked bitterly.
“I do trust you; I don’t trust him around you. I know you wouldn’t tell him intentionally to ruin our lives, but you might on accident because of the affect he has on you.”
“Because he’s an angel or because I love him.”
“Both.” He said, and I walked out from between the buildings shoving him aside.
“Why can’t you just let things stay like they are? I just want to pretend to be normal. Why is that so much to ask for?”
“You aren’t normal.”
“So you keep telling me.” I said with a raised voice.
“Do you want to get caught having this discussion?” He hissed at me as he backed me up against a wall.
“I love you, and I want us to be together. I want you every second of everyday, and I would die to save you. I would do anything to make sure that you are okay, but watching you with him is too much. I don’t think I can do it.” He said putting one hand on either side of my face.
“Simple solution quit spying on me.” I said shoving at him as I glanced over, and saw Aaron standing on the road behind Adrian.
“Get off of her.” Aaron said shoving Adrian aside who was shocked to see Aaron there.
“Are you okay?” He asked grabbing me protectively.
“I’m fine; let’s just get out of here.”
“Don’t let me ketch you touching her again.” Aaron growled at Adrian.
“What are you going to do about?” Adrian challenged.
“Oh you’d be surprised.” Aaron retorted.
“I’ll tear you apart.” Adrian said about to start a fight, and I stepped in between them putting one hand on each of their chests.
“You don’t want to get fired, and you don’t want to risk your halo.” I said, and they both looked at me. Adrian stepped back, but Aaron was still fired up.
“What, are you to scared to fight me?” Aaron, asked as Adrian walked away with his hands in his pockets.
“No, but I wouldn’t want to risk hitting Allie or scaring her for her life because she had to watch as I ripped her boyfriend to shreds.” He called over his shoulder, and I tried not to smile as I grabbed Aaron’s hand.
“Tell me what that was about.” He demanded and I shook my head.
“Not here; he could be watching. How far away
