“You petty scoundrel, I want you to complete it faster and now, human!” screamed gladiator like alien soldier, with a shrilling voice. The poor, tortured human who looked more like a skeleton, winced as a larger alien approached them. The former one murmured something in confusing shrills and grinned back at the pathetic human. The larger alien said nothing and took out a laser tricorder. He pointed it to the human and within blink of an eye, what left was just ash of the human.



The two aliens entered a greenish-grey building with wide glassy walls that reflected off the light rays of setting sun.
General Scottix asked the soldier, “Where is the other scoundrel you captured? You said he might be of use”.
“Oh yes sir! Here he is!”
A blistered human was lying in a cubic cell. The soldier went near the human, “Our general is grouch and ruthless and he’ll suck your blood and energy happily if you don’t prove yourself useful, so you better speak out the truth now,” he explained viciously. Ted was scared; he swallowed traces of saliva in his mouth and exclaimed, “Never!”
General Scottix came near Ted, “If you decide to tell us the truth and everything about Renaissance, we will do you no harm as long as you live.”
He looked towards the soldier and shrilled a voice that echoed the walls of the cell. With this both the aliens left.
After some time, there was a blast near the passageway. Ted was enlightened with hope. The passageway and cell station was filled with shrill noise and the sound of footsteps and tricorders got louder and louder. Then there was a known face, his saviour that stretched out her hand to the Ted.
“Melissa!”
“Ready for escape? ” Melissa pulled her brother up and handed him a 12B Turboblast .She took out a plasma grenade and threw it into the cell. Some similar aliens came from the passageway, she took out her laser ionizer and flashed at them. None of her target survived for long.
Ted and Melissa were members of Renaissance, a community of human survivors that worked towards achieving independence of humankind from their brutal enemy- the Tyrannicals.

Andrew opened his eyes. Melissa asked, “How are you feeling now?”
Andrew asked in a perplexed tone, “Who are you?”
“Well, I think it’s the time, to tell you the truth”, she replied.
“What truth ?”
Melissa sighed and began, “Your father was not Edmund Syre, he is foster parent. Your real father was from this world, his name was Eric Ray and your mother was Selena ray.”
“Selena ray, she was a wonderful woman, so compassionate yet so daunting ,so beautiful yet so down to earth. She was my teacher in combat art , very close to me,” she explained as she looked into a hollow corner.


“She met Eric during a dangerous mission , we needed some of energy sources that were available only at the Radiation primax, a region where radiation lethal to humans is abundant while such radiation has no effect on damn aliens. She had got the sources safely but got into trouble while stealing documents of time machine. She was about to die when Eric came to save her. He was not from Renaissance, he belonged to another human survivor community called the Crusaders.”
Andrew struggled with words, “And how was my father Eric Ray?”
“I don’t know much about him. Just that he was gallant gentleman ,an expert of machines and loved Selena Ray passionately.”
“If my parents are from this place, of this time, then how come I got in year 1989?”, “Are they alive?” asked Andrew eyeing Melissa with doubt.
“Well, your parents had made a computer program that was linked to their gene sequence and it was our ultimate weapon against the Tyrannicals. But..”
“But what ?”
“Your mother was pregnant with you , someone from our underground community did treachery. She fell in the trap and your father...”she paused and then continued after a while, “He died while saving you and your mom; the program was shut down. It was Selena’s idea to send you to past ,to the time that was much more secure .We decided to try it, no one believed on time machine idea but she believed in her friend who was working on the concept –Dr.Quark.”
“Dr. Quark was my mother’s friend?” Andrew asked astonishingly.
“Yes, but your mother vanished to somewhere thereafter, no one knows where. Some say she will come back when the time is right and will work with Dr.Quark to somehow bring you back here. You could be the missing link to the gene sequence fed in the program.” Melissa looked into his eyes as she gave him his answers.
