Fairy shuddered in the intense cold but she didnβt freeze. Instead, she waved her hand in front of her nose and said: βYou. Need. A mint.β
The dragon turned, rather reluctantly, and the scattered Dreamwalkers caught a glimpse of its scaly length. Around its middle was a leather saddle on which the rider sat. They could see that the rider wore some kind of animal hide draped over one shoulder. His shape was definitely human but he was tall and massive, and his skin was the color of moss. Β Β Β Β
When he turned his head was when the Dreamwalkers established he wasnβt human. His features were all in the right place but the Dreamwalkers couldnβt help thinking that his face resembled a putty more than anything else because everything was the wrong proportion. The eyes were beady, the nose was large and aquiline, the ears were long like Elfβs but webbed like a fan, and tusk-like mandibular canine teeth protruded from his lips even when they were closed. One word came to the mind of every Dreamwalker: Orc.
Without alighting, the rider raised a horn trumpet from his girdle and blew on it. The roaring sound that he made penetrated and reverberated to the depths of the forest. As with the olifants, the Dreamwalkers felt the sound in their chests and, perhaps as a delayed reaction to the dragonβs icy breath, they all felt chilled to the bone.
