CHAPTER ONE

She was in the kitchen when she heard movement upstairs, she ran upstairs gasping for air, when she got there it was only the wind blowing the curtains because the window was wide open, but wait a minute, she had not opened the windows, her window was never open any time of day, when it was hot or cold it was never open. β€œSomeone must have been here", she thought as the chills ran down her spine". She walked closer to the window, looked down and around and no one was there, this was quite spooky for her.

Lisa and her mum had just moved there, they had no friends, no relatives, just neighbours who locked themselves up most of the time. There was this tall and handsome looking guy who always sat by his window, he looked lonely most of the time, if he wasn’t looking out his window, he was sitted there reading a book or writing down something, he stayed up most of the nights and all she thought was that maybe he didn’t have friends. This neighbourhood was always very quiet, at night was much too quiet for her and she had never felt safe for the last two months they were there, they knew no one, her mum tried being friendly to the neighbours but most of the time they ignored her or just went on doing what they were doing, it was like there was something they feared. She didn’t like this at all. School was opening in a few days time and she thought maybe she would make new friends, just maybe.

She closed her bedroom window and went downstairs to the kitchen to make a cup of coffeee, it was getting cold in Beverly Hills each minute. Lisa's mum wasn’t around much as she had got this new job that seemed to look like she was married to, she came home late in the night. Lisa always fixed dinner and left it covered for her, and then before she went to bed if her mum wasn't back she would write a note letting her know what she needed the next day, if it was money or something for her to do for Lisa before she left, she always left very early before Lisa even woke up, she never saw her.

She always wondered who her dad was since her mum had never said a word about her having a dad or not, maybe she had just never found the right time to ask her about him,She definitely was born and she knew that for her to be born there must have been a man in her mothers life.

It was almost 6 in the evening when she realised she had to make dinner, mom would be home soon and she wanted her to get dinner ready since her mom had promised she would come home early, which she knew wouldn’t happen, she had promised to be home early severally but it never happended, not one single day and she knew she didn’t like that one bit. They never spent time together and how she wished they could have just one day to be at home with her mum.

She was going to make spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, so she went to the fridge took out I pack of meatballs. She had to give it time to defrost, so she sat on the couch and turned on the television, there was the 7 oclock news, I wasn’t a news fan but I just glued her eyes on tv but wasn’t paying attention to what was being said, due to the level of boredom she was going through, she needed company and she didnt care where the company would come from, all she needed was someone to talk and laugh with. Life was boring especially when you had spooky quiet neighbours and a mum who was married to her job.

She always tried to make it as fun as possible but it never seemed to work, she was lonely. she decided to step out on the pouch for a while just to get some fresh air since she had been indoors almost the whole day and really needed some fresh air. She took her warm coffee from the kitchen table and sipped it as she went outside.

It was getting cold. She sat down the pouch stairs hoping to catch a glimpse of someone she could at least talk to. β€œIf there is one thing I need Lord is a friend”, she thought.

β€œBored?”, she heard a voice behind her ask. She almost jumped out of her skin when she heard that very unfamiliar voice, she turned and saw it wasn’t someone she didn’t know, looks like God was working things out. β€œYeah”, she said. β€œI guess that’s the way of life around here, I don’t see much people around here, looks like they are always indoors. Sorry I talk too much, am Lisa”, she I mumbled shyly.

Here was this tall blonde haired guy standing infront of her with these very amazing eyes and lips you would want to kiss without thinking twice. He was wearing tight torn jeans, cashmere cardigan and a black t-shirt. He looked breath taking.

Why was she even thinking of him in such a way, she hardly knew him. "its quite boring here and i really do understand if you are bored, i hardly have anything to do myself most of the time, am Jack," he answered.

"I have never seen you talk to anyone but me, not once!! don't you think this place is quite strange?" she asked him.

"yeah, I have lived here since i was young and it has always been like this, soon you're going to get used to being alone most of the time, and i suggest you better start getting used to it, because if you don't, you are going to die of boredom my dear," he said with a smile on his face. His lips were soft and supple and she couldn't help staring at them, if only she would kiss them.

"I really don't know, there is just something spooky about this town, i don't know whether its the town or the people, they always seem to be afraid of something, don't you think? you must know, you have lived here for a long time," she said.

He was looking down, biting his lower lip, trying as much as possible to avoid looking directly into her eyes, she sensed something too, she sensed he knew something and looked like he wasn't going to tell her. "Do you know something Jack? did something bad happen here, please tell me?" she asked shakily.

"I should go home now, my mum must be worried by now, see you later," he said as he walked away, not giving Lisa a chance to ask more, this made her shake even more, looked like she was right, and this spooked her out.

she sat there for a few minutes, thoughts crossing her mind, what was this all about, everyone minding her own business in this neighbourhood, what if this place was haunted, or had vampires and wolves? she didn't believe in such things, it never occurred to her that stuff like that existed. Or what if the neighbours had a secret, did they kill someone and they all knew about it and kept it a secret, what was this all about? she had to find out, she didn't care when or how but for safety reasons she had to know what was going on.
