My Sister Saved Me

"Jay, what happened to ya man?"
"Oh, um, fell off my bike yesterday, got a bruise and some cuts, ya know?"
"Yea, man, but it looks like you got beat with a Louisville Slugger. Oh, dude, bell's gonna ring, see ya seventh hour!"
Keith slapped him a high-five and walked away.

I do look like I got beat with a bat, don't I?Oh wait, thats because I did.
"How am I gonna explain this to Sofie? She's way too young to know moms abusing me. But I love mom, she just has a little drinking problem is all."

Jay didn't want his mom to go away to jail, What would Sofie, his eight year old sister feel like? It'd be traumatic for her. But the plus side would be that he wouldn't be starved or have bleach wiped down his back if he got a "B" on his report card.

But mom would be lonely without him and whose gonna take care of the baby on the way?
Little Mary, not even born? She's probably going to be deformed he'd still love her. Maybe the big govermant guys would let dad keep her, Maybe. Hopefully.

Jay walked into class thinking about this when he realized it had already started.
"Mr.Prince, this is the third time you've been late, I'm going to have to call your mother."
Jay stood there a feeling of horror welling up inside him.

Would he survive the wrath of his mom when he got home?

She had said that the next time this happened, she would knock him unconscious and throw him in the hot tub. To let him drown.

The only words that escaped Jay's lips as Mr.Lemmings dialed his mothers phone number were:

"Oh no, she's gonna kill me." Literally.

The last thing he remembered that day, was being put into the back of an ambulance and his mom into the back of a cop car.

One thing he knew:

Sofie had saved him.

Dear Diary - Love Emma

Dear Diary,

You are probably the best friend I could ever have. Today a bunch of guys pushed me down the stairsand made me fall for two full flights. Everyone was laughing. A LOT.

I got up with a lot of pain and started walking to the nurses office. I got there and she didn't notice me., so I said her name and even waved my hand in front of her face.

All of a sudden a cheerleader came -still in uniform- came in. She was sobbing.
"Nurse! Nurse! A girl tripped down the stairs and she won't get up! Hurry!"

The nurse got up and ran down the hall.

I shoved my way through the crowd and looked at the familiar clothes on the poor girl. Baggy sweatshirt, loose jeans, converse.

I screamed.

It was me. I looked down at my hands, they were fading.

NO!

The last words I heard were,
"She's dead."

Love,
Emma

R.I.P.- maybe thats what I should say.

Step-Dad

My step-dad is a murderer. He hung me from the rafters in the attic. Then he drained my blood.

The police thought suicide until the autopsy revealed I had no blood. Bruises? Yes. Cuts? Yes.

He was put in jail for 6 life sentences for the murder of 16 other girls. Not including me.

Too bad bad he won't even live for one of those sentences.

Mom begged for an execution.

His reason for killing me?

Not finishing my homework.

Argyle Socks

beep, beep, beeeeep.....
I jump up out of bed, not bothering to to turn off my alarm clock. Walking into the kitchen I say "Hey, mom."
No answer.
"Whatever." I say to the silence.
Lane walks into the kitchen, hair still dripping from his shower.
"Go wake your sister or she'll be late. And when you're done go dry off your hair."
" 'Kay, mom." He mumbles back to her.
"Mom, I'm right here at the-"
"Mom! Mom! Come quick!" The panic in his voice is enough to send chills through me.
Mom runs to the end of the hall and into my purple and orange bedroom. I run after here and squeeze into the room.
I see Lane pull away the covers to find a lifeless body lying on my bed. I can see her body but not her face. The red sweater, green zebra print shorts, and argyle socks she fell asleep in, look terrifyingly familiar. I look down at myself and suddenly recognize the girl in the bed.
"Oh, God." I whisper before everything fades away with only the sounds of sobbing and the last sound being....
beep, beep, beeeeep....
