She is a middle-aged woman with long dyed hair, who stands at five feet. She wear
s a pair of spectacles and slight wrinkles can be seen on her face. She is a
caring and loving person who believes in living life to the fullest. She is an
important person in my life and I respect her. If not for her, I may not have
been brought into such a nice world and family. This lady is my mother.
Mother was born in a poor family. She has an elder brother and three younger
ones. Since she is the second oldest child in the family who happened to be a
girl, she had to drop out of school at a young age and find work to support the

family. All the household chores thus landed on her, also because Grandmother
had to look after the younger boys. Mother led a hard life when she was young
but she never bore any grudges towards her mother. I admire her generosity and
forgiving nature. It was this unhappy childhood experience that made her more
determined to give the young her love and to cherish things well.

Now, she is leading a peaceful and happy life with a good husband and a quite
obedient child . Actually I am a nice daughter, except for certain occasions
when I do argue with her and make her fume in rage. She can be considered as
a bad-tempered person. There are times when she would suddenly just raise her
voice for nothing, grumble about something or blame me for things I did not do.
Nonetheless, she is the light of my life, somebody whom I can depend on always.

She is sometimes a forgetful person too. There was one incident in which she had
to go out to the same place four or five times to get the things she had
forgotten to buy. Whenever these happen, she will tell me when I am back from
school. Then both of us will laugh together. Through such incidents, I can feel
the love and warmth between a mother and a daughter.

My mother is not exactly a thrifty person, although mostly she is. She spends
hundreds monthly to dye her nearly white hair. And my father and I like her
beautifully-done hair. Also, she does not believe in buying items on sale. She
says: β€œCheap things are often of either inferior quality or still selling above
their cost prices. Foodstuffs on sale are either nearing the expiry date or
those which cannot be easily sold.” This is a characteristic different from most
people- who often shop for sales. This is why she is such an individual and I
appreciate this special lady.

My mother is the root of our family. She is the source of strength for me.
Whenever I feel unhappy or tired, she will come and console me and listen to my
complaints. If I am sick, she will look after me. Sometimes, she will cook some
of my favourite dishes . She worries about me all the time and gets frantic when
I come home late. She is also anxious over my results and whether I have eaten
my meals . Indeed, she nags and screams now and then. However, she is actually
showing me how much she loves and treasures me. I am grateful to her for all she
has done.

She is a very important person in my life, in fact, the most important one.
I love her very much and hope that she will never leave me. I will try to
support her and be filial to her when I grow up. I hope she will lead such a
peaceful life forever.
Life is a very amazing thing. There are sure to be many wasted opportunities on
this long journey. Opportunities are defined as chances for us to do something
to our advantages. Often thousands and thousands of such times occur, but we
usually don’t cherish them, including me.

We can live in whatever way we like, do anything we wish. However, when such
moments happen, we do not seize them immediately, but let them escape from our
hands and fly away. In this undesirable manner, the hours we have been waiting
for are dissipated. It is useless to lament after our loss and I believe this
is a situation which everybody has faced throughout his or her life.
