The green eyed ghost
Chapter 1
The end to the beginning.
As the ghost drew closer his eyes with their eerie green glow, his hand outstretched towards me. Hang on, wait a minute Iβll better start my story from the beginning...
The year was 1711 our reigning queen Anne was on the throne. I remember it was a cold wintery night as the snow covered the land. My mother, father and I were serving customerβs ale and broth in our humble little tavern, when all of a sudden the door to our tavern flung open. When in strolled a gang of ruthless looking vagrants. As they strode past me to get to the bar a sudden shiver crept down my spine. I caught a glimpse, something which resembled a dagger in the belt of one of the vagrants. I tried to get my fathers attention due to this premonition that something surely unimaginable was going to happen. As I opened my mouth to warn of the dangers the vagrants within a split second daggers drawn. They had my mother and father bound and gagged. I tried to reach my parents who were only a few feet away, it seemed to take eternity through my tears and screams to reach them. The vagrants were heading towards the door with my father unconscious over one of their shoulders. They shoved past me as if I was invisible. As I regained my senses, I stumbled outside. The vagrants and my father had disappeared in to the heartless night. Though my aching heart and tears. I heard my motherβs voice screaming my name. I stood up, brushed the snow off myself. I entered the tavern where my mother sat head in hands weeping uncontrollably whilst repeating mine and my fatherβs names.
Chapter 2
The bloody trail.
Just as I was beginning to drift off the cockerel crowed. I sat up in bed hoping that last night was nothing but a nightmare. I jumped up out of my bed, I raced to my parentβs bedroom. There I found my mother still sobbing. Then I realised that last night was very real indeed. I rushed back to my room and got dressed. I flew down the stairs, flung open the tavern door. As I stepped on to the crisp snow. I saw what I thought was a trail leading from the tavern to the forest. As I bent down to get a better look, I realised that it was a trail of blood. I hoped that in some way that it was my fathers, because at least Iβll be able to find him dead or alive. I told my mother what I was planning on doing. She never acknowledged me being there, I decided there and then that I alone was going to find my father. I threw some provisions together for the journey ahead. As I took one last look at my mother she was where I left still sobbing. As I whispered goodbye to my mother, I whispered a little prayer.
Chapter 3
The journey begins.
At last I began my journey. I took one last look at what I might see for the last time, my loving mother and our humble tavern. I set off into the frightening forest. Tears still pouring out of my mothers eyes. βGoodbye my sweet, sweet motherβ I whispered to myself. Before I realised it I was deep in the forest, still following the trail of blood that I hoped was my fathers. It was nearing 10 pm and my eyelids were starting to feel rather heavy. I could see a cave in the distance, so I stumbled towards it. It was empty, all I could here was the frantic pita pata of my tiny aching heart.
