‘The Epilactic Art Museum of the Past’ the sign read. I’d never heard of it at all. All of my friends had gone to the art museums in the big cities, but I was going to one in the middle of nowhere! We’d driven for ages listening to Dad’s annoying TomTom satnav - which nearly made us drive into a pig farm halfway to the museum thanks to a malfunction. So, Dad spent TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES resetting it again. But, half an hour later, we arrived.

We went inside the art museum. It was quite big, but not too big. After Mum paid for all of us (Her, Dad, my little 9-year-old sister Elsie and me), she said I could have a look round on my own; after all, I am twelve years old!
‘Now, Maddie, behave, will you?’ Mum asked.
‘Yeah…’ I replied as I walked off.
I walked through a door which said ‘The Art of the Egyptians’. There was no-one in there but me.

When I was halfway through the room, I heard something - the wind blowing sand across the dunes of the Egyptian desert. I also felt a breeze going through my t-shirt and down my spine. Then, it started to speak. ‘Who dares come in here in modern clothes with hands in their pockets?’ I decided to speak back.
‘My name is Maddie, I am twelve years old and I live in Ixworth. What do you want?’
‘Oh, we know all about you. Come on in…’ the painting replied, and suddenly, I somehow shot into the painting head-first.

I landed on soft, golden sand. I could see the pyramids towering high above me, with Cleopatra standing beside me.

There was a strange hole. I ran through it and found myself in ‘The Last Supper’, with Jesus and his disciples. I did ‘bunny ears’ on Jesus and then ran into another hole.

That hole led me into an old photograph from V.E. Day in 1945. Some child gave me some chocolate and sweets from his rationing as I ran into the next hole; calling ‘Thank you so much!’ to the boy.

Several ‘holes’ in paintings later, I found myself standing face-to-face with a real angel! I gasped as she gave me a necklace with a real crystal on it! I clasped it, and suddenly started falling through a deep purple hole. It seemed endless!
This is it…- I thought to myself - …the end of my days. That angel surely wanted me dead. I will miss my family, even Elsie, who is a devil of her own… I closed my eyes, as I prepared to face my doom…

I ended up back in the Egyptian room! Mum, Dad and Elsie then came in. Mum asked where I got the necklace from, but I just said that I’d found it. Realising my necklace was still there, I felt inside my pocket.

To my surprise, the chocolate and sweets from V.E Day was still there.

(Thanks for reading this! I hope you thought it was good.)
