Where do I begin?

“Hey pops, I’m gonna go meet a friend.”
“What?”
“I’M GOONA GO MEET A FRIEND.”
“Do whatever the hell you want.”
What twisted his shoelaces?

Grabbing my keychain on the way out I turned the bronze doorknob to the right and pulled the black stained door back. Man, it’s getting chilly like when Abby dropped that bucket of ice down my back this summer.

I pulled the cold handle of my mustang shelby back and quickly swooped inside. Put the key in the jack and switched the car on. The motor growled and I smiled because I love the sounds of a powerhouse. Brrrrr! Lets get this car nice and warm. Let’s see...haha, wow! Heat switch on, to the max

! Shifting the car into reverse I turned on the USB port and automatically my favorite band blasted out of the speakers. Which is Alexisonfire. The dark clouds instantly started pouring rain and right then I gave a happy sigh as I watched it fly onto my wind shield and then fly off my wind shield wipers. Hello Starbucks! I have missed you. Gah now to park.

I pulled into the first spot I spotted. Ok, yes I love the rain but I don’t feel like a shower at the moment. Sooo...I-2-3-..GO!

Instantly I shot out of the car and under the awning and locked it from there. Hm, hardly wet. Sweet! Oh, ya inside I go

. I opened the door and was welcomed by Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson, the awesomely mouthwatering smell of coffee, and a comfy temperature. Think I should wait for her to get here before I get something.

Not wanting to stand in the doorway the whole time, I grabbed a table with two little chairs and took a seat. After about 20 minutes I started to get a little worried and then another 25 minutes latter my phone started to vibrate in my pocket. Pulling it out I saw her name and knew that she wasn’t coming. Well, since I’m here I might as well get a coffee and hang out.

So I stood in line and waited for my liquid goodness.
“Hey.”
That voice made me almost blackout because it was whispered straight in my ear.
“Dear ga-. You just gave me heart attack!”
“No. Really? I was just sayin hello.” He said sarcastically.
“Ha ha, very funny.”
“I know.”
“Psh, jerk.”
“Come on I’m just bein myself.”
“Good.”
“What are you getting?”
“Gummy bears!”
“They have them hear? I want some!”
“I was being sarcastic.”
“No, really?! I thought you were being serious.”
I just shook my head with a giggle.
“What can I get for you?”
“Gummy bears.” He whispered in my ear.
“I’m trying to order.” I said whisking around with a smile.
“Sorry bout that, I’ll have a grande Eggnog Latte.”
“Alright, one grande Eggnog Latte. Anything else?”
“Ya, I’ll have the same.” I turned around a little bit shocked but kinda saw it comin.
“Alright, so two grande Eggnog Lattes?”
“That’ll be it!”
“You sure?”
“Ya, my treat.”
“Alright, that’ll be $7.95.”
He dug into his pocket and pulled out his wallet and handed the guy a ten.
“Out of ten? Two fifty is your change and your drinks will be ready soon.”
“Thank you.” We both said at the same time.
“Would you like to join me at my lonely table?”
“I’d love to. Can’t have a lonely table.”
“I know right? It’s depressing.”
“Yep.”
“So what brings you hear?” I asked as we sat down.
“What I can’t come to Starbucks now?”
“You know that’s not what I meant.”

“(laughs) I know. It was cold. I like coffee. So I came to Starbucks.”

“That’s a boring story.”

“Well actually, it's the truth.”
“No really?”
“That’s my line!”
“(laughs) I know.”
“And why are you here?”

“I was gonna meet a friend but she texted me back and told me she couldn’t today.”
“Well that kinda sucks.”
“Ya.”
“Mind if I take her place?”
“Not at all.”
“Oh, ok. I’ll leave then.”
“No, I didn’t mean leave-”
“(laughs) I know what you meant.”
“Sheesh man! You like to freak me out don’t you?”
“No, how could tell?”
I laughed as I sipped my delicious latte.
“Good?”
“Mhmmm.” I hummed still sipping my coffee.
Then he started sipping his with a smile.
“So how has your day been?”
“Pretty good, and yours?”
“Alright.”
“Just alright?”
“Ya.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Not really.”
“Are you sure?”
“Ya, I really am sure.”
“Ok, I just want to make sure.”
“I know and thank you but I just...don’t really want to think about it.”
“Ok, sorry I brought it up.”
“No, it’s fine...I just don’t want to talk about it.”
“I understand.”
“I just realized every time that guy talked he started with alright.”
“Wow, way off topic.”
“Come on! You know me and my random outbursts.”
“Yes, yes I do.”
“Do you?” I said with a funny look.
“Yes.”
We meet each others eyes and we both couldn’t help but stare a little.
“What?” I finally said.
“Your eyes...”
“My eyes?”
“They’re...amazing.”
Ummm...I don‘t know what to think about this. I’m in a mixture of “Awe that’s sweet.” and “Awkwarrrrrd!”

“Amazing how?”
“It’s like I can see all the emotion just coming from them.”
I was seriously speechless and didn’t know what more to say. Instead I looked down while drinking my coffee. Then after a few minutes I looked up to see him staring at me.
“What?”
“I- I miss you.”
Now I really didn’t know what to think. Really?! Had to hit me in the gut with that, huh?.........What am I supposed to say? Ya, I miss you too. We kiss and make up and it’s all better? It’s not that easy. I need time. Life is hard right now.

“(sigh) I wish I could say the same...”
“I hurt you bad didn’t I.”
“Just a little...But I know I hurt you more...I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it, I’m the one that should be saying sorry.”
“Dude, your marks were little cuts and mine were giant scars....”
“The last thing I want is for this making you look like the bad guy.”
“I know, but that’s who I am.”
“No it’s not. I know you and you don’t just make scars.”
“.......”
“I love you...don’t ever forget that. And I’m always here.”
“Thank you...and I’ll keep that in mind.”
“You better, or-”
“Damn it. Hold on a sec.”
My pocket started vibrating again but this time it wasn’t a text.
“Um...sorry I need to take this.”

“No prob.”
I walked outside under the awning.
“Hello?”
“Where in the hell are you?”
“I told you I was meeting a friend.”
“No you didn’t! You didn’t say a damn word!”
“Yes I did! I-”
“I don’t want any of your lies! Get home now or I’m taking away your car!”
“No you can’t!”
“I SAID GET HOME NOW!”
“Ok...”
He hung up the phone and I stood there with bitter tears starting to stream down my face. I think he noticed because he was outside hugging me around the waist and I turned around and hugged him.
“Is it your dad?”
“Ya.” I said between tears.
“Wish I could take you away from him.”
“I wish you could too. But I have to go before all hell breaks loose.”
He kissed me on the cheek, ”Remember...I’m here.”
“I know.”
I reluctantly let go of our hug and ran out into the rain unlocking my Mustang as I was running, and jumped inside. Starting it right away, no music, and drove off. I wish I didn’t have this...
