The day Jimmy stood up for himself


The old one room school house was filled with students at their work. I sat in the back next to my little brother Jimmy and my little sister Katherine. Kat and Jimmy where in the second grade. I was in the fifth. Mother told Mrs.Cathings that I was to look after them at school.
Mother didn't like Mrs.Cathings. She thought that Jimmy and Kat weren't being looked after right. The bell rang for recess to begin."Be back in fifteen minutes children." said Mrs.Cathings. Jimmy got up with a burst of speed. "Hey Maybelle do you think that I can play on the slide today?" Jimmy was constantly getting bullied by Thomas.
Thomas was waiting for him at the slide. "Hey give me your lunch money." said Thomas "No." Jimmy replied.
"Give me your lunch money or your not going down the slide." Thomas reached for the dollar in Jimmy's back pocket."NO!" Yelled Jimmy. Jimmy brought his hand back and punched Thomas in the nose. We expected Mother to be mad at Jimmy when we got home.
Instead she hugged Jimmy and said "Its about time you stood up for yourself."
