Going To School

Schoolbag in hand, I skip along the road to school. It was my first day and I was so excited, I could burst.
My other friends were looking nervous; some were even crying and hugging their mums like they were super glued. I was the only one who wanted to go to school.

The bell went at nine in the morning. Everyone lined up into different classes as a brunette, female, smiley teacher came out.

The day was lovely. The teacher, Miss Allie, was really nice. She played guitar and helped every single one of us.

I really liked school.

Engagement

When I woke up after a long night of clubbing, Dan, my boyfriend, wasn’t in the bed! I was scared at first, but then I saw a trail of rose petals. Excitedly, I followed the trail.

Ten minutes later, I was led to the French doors leading to the garden. Cautiously, I opened the door. Dan was there, with pancakes on a table, dressed in his suit. He smiled as I came over.

After our pancakes, Dan stood up, walked over to me and held out a ring.

β€˜Will you marry me?’ he asked happily.
β€˜Yes.’ I smiled and cried.

Dying

I woke up in hospital. After I collapsed in my home, I knew what was happening. I was dying of old age – ninety.

My grandchildren and Dan were standing over me, with a nurse. Dan was starting to cry. The nurse put her arm around him.
β€˜Angela’s going to be fine.’ She said with an uncertain tone.

I looked at my grandchildren. They were teenagers now, but they were blubbering like babies. There were flowers and teddies by my side.

β€˜Dan, I love you…’ I said, and my eyes closed.

I had a thought.
A life well lived, I thought.
