Sunlight

I look at you and wonder, as the summer breeze causes your spiraling tresses to gently caress your soft skin, "do you remember me?"

I'm right beside you. Right here, longing to hold you again. How I wish I could remember how that felt. I wish I could feel the warmth of the sunlight. It taunts me. I'm here, drifting through the lilting, dappling shadows of the trees as they pull me to and fro, beckoning for me to join them and leave you behind.

I call out your name, begging you to hear me. I want you to see me. Know that I'm still here. I haven't left you.

I heard you crying in a dream the other night. That's how I found you again. I swore I'd protect you from nightmares. You have to believe me when I say I'll never let a bad dream harm you. I'm right here beside you to chase your fears away. You just have to believe.
